2001 ACE 750 now on the Darkside
New member,1st post.Came to the darkside about 500 miles ago.Couldn't be happier!Ordered a kumho 165-80-15 form local tire man,got a Vredestein Sprint Classic 165-80-15 instead,OK I'll try that. After some research the Magna riders speak very highly of it.Took me maybe 2.5 hrs to get it on and running again,1.5 hrs disassembly and reassembly,1 hr beading it up.Used spray white grease and 120 psi.I think the key to mounting is to watch the bead when it first starts on the wheel and keep it even.I did this by standing on the tire and it beaded right up.Went straight to the highway, not much different from MT,slightly more stable. No quirks to get used to.Over the next 500 miles I notice much better rear braking traction on dry roads. The wet road braking is just crazy.Me and wife road in a poker run in the rain the other day, slid her off the back seat going down a steep hill,on wet road, with rear brake only,on a traction test. Also much more stable on gravel.Wife just bought an ACE identical to mine, down to the paint. She is coming over to the Darkside next. The poker run was funny "Holy crap is that a car tire?" "Yeah it is"

Wow! 120 psi and standing on the tire. You got more...ah... well...than I do. I didn't mount my own but I've heard that 100 psi is about max. Glad you got it done.

Good luck! Remember your fire retardent suits on your first trip!!
I probably went by Dutch Mills a couple weeks ago. Went down old hwy71 from Rogers to Ft. Smith. Great ride! Used to ride that on a greyhound bus when I was a kid.
Let us know how you and your wife like the ride. Don't forget the pictures!
This is one of my favorite Arkansas signs.
In Texas we warn of upcoming curves. In Arkansas, this would get quite expensive. Ya'll just say "Gonna get curvy for awhile...".
Pics please!

Wife did great, went on about a 70 mile cruise.I'll have to get her to help with the pics,I'm not too computer savy.
A few more observations on the new ct: doesn't chase grooves in pavement near as bad, throws a nice rooster tail in the dirt ,the new ct was more round than the worn out mt and rated for twice the payload

Another one from Missouri
I'm Just south of Kimberling City. I put a Nexen 165 80-15 on my 1100 Shadow Aero. After 14,000 carefree miles I wanted a different look so I went to to the 205-65-15 Nexen. To me the 205 handles better seem like the sidewall is stiffer. And it looks really good too.
If you want to get a tire try the tire shops in Golden they have about any size you could want.

Re: 2001 ACE 750 now on the Darkside
It still had over 1/4 of the tread left I just wanted a different look. When a tire cost 53 dollars and you get 14,000 miles out of it you feel you got your moneys worth. The 205 seams to be a better tire. I'm running a rear tire on the front of my Aero and that too is working out great

Re: 2001 ACE 750 now on the Darkside
at 0.37 cents a mile (less than half a penny), we don't have to wait till we ride on onion skins to swap them. At $250 per tire, (5 cents per mile) I was wanting to get every mile I could!
It's great to take a look at the tire and say, cost me $60. It's got 15k miles on it. Had it for a year. Time for something different.....

That's how I see it , after 15000 miles or so, I'l put something else on and use the old tire on one of the wagons has the same size rim (15").

You can also use them on a flatbed trailer if you have one. My 16 foot tandem axyl runs 205/70/15. Imagine that.
