94 VT1100c car tire?
Hey everyone,
I am new to this forum.Am a member of the Hondashadow.net forum...but, I am really interested in going to a car tire for my shadow and have been reading up on it for some time. I just put a Dunlop 404 on 3000 miles ago and already see considerable wear and I dont ride hard! I have seen the tire sizes some of the guys have tried and am just wondering if they work for just the newer versions of the shadows or if they will indeed work for my 94...does anyone have feedback on this??

You should be fine with the info we've provided. My shadow is a 1990 and I'm pretty sure Steve-O's and David's were much newer. If you want to have the closest feeling to a motorcycle tire, I'm pretty sure the consensus is to get the 165/80/15. I'm running that right now and I swear it's not any different then my old Dunncrap 404. My next tire will be a 205/65/15. They just look too badass for me to pass up.

You have cast rims on that bike, and they are nearly the same as Tim's and mine. A Kumho 165 is highly recommended as a starter tire for you. It will handle nearly identical to your mc tire, but will wear a lot longer, have a larger contact patch, cost less, safer, etc, etc.
Instructions for mounting the exact tire is in this section of the forum. Feel free to ask any questions. We all had our first CT and are happy to share these experiences. None of us have died yet.

My dunflop lasted me 3 months and almost 3000 miles. You'll have that Kuhmo in no time!!!

Re: 94 VT1100c car tire?
I pulled my mc tire off early and set it aside. In case I wanted to sell the bike, I could put the mc tire back on (if need be). Not sure a new buyer would be thrilled about riding on the darkside.
Anyway, decided that I probably would never sell my VT1100C since they quit making them and threw the old tire away.
I say go for it. The Kumho is only $60 or so and they go on really easy.

Your bike looks nice!
Imagine all those nice flashy looks, and then when you walk to the rear seeing that BADASS CT.
If you want a peek at what it might look like, just check out the pictures of when 3 of us shadow guys got together in Dallas.

The furthest to the left is mine, with a Kuhmo 165. Next was David's old shadow with the legendary Douglass 205. Then you have Steve-O's stock MC tire.
I really like the way that Douglas looks! It will probably be my next tire. There are others that look cooler, but that tire just has that BEEFCAKE look. Plus my 1/2 mile of dirt driveway won't be an issue.

Re: 94 VT1100c car tire?
yep, your right on that..the douglas has a beefier tread and look to it...that will probably be the one I go with. I like plenty of tread and it looks like it has a more aggressive tread pattern towards the edges. It blows me away that you cant find a motorcycle tire with ALL that tread and deep rain grooves...and as far as the Hondashadow.net forum...so many of those guys take offense so fast over some of the sillyest things...I dont post on there near as much as I used to..they cant seem to keep an open mind to new ideas. We might be on the darkside..but, we sure are not in the DARK AGES

Yup. I hear you there.
Over at HS.N ... I've going to start taking the approach where I add "In my opinion" to the front of most of the naysayers supposed facts. If it's their opinion, then I have no problem with it. I'm not out to change anyone's opinion, just to correct some of the BS people call "facts".
