Here are the mods I have planned for the winter teardown.

Hicks screw and ctr (on the way)
engine black
risers (thinman one piece, have em here)
Paint the tins fairing trunk and bags.
tank seam fill and pop up cap.
head light extension (make it myself)
twin lightside mod (thank you twin for the brackets)
make a light bar and mount more lights
would also like to make an inner fairing and mount a stereo in it
Mount speaker pods to trunk (given to me by a neighbor)
remake my mounts for trunk and bags.
check adjust the valves
and mount a new car tire on the 1800 rim
paint the rims, and heat shields
Front brakes
find and mount led brake lights on the trunk (haven't found the set that turned me on yet)
Fab and install trailer hitch and wiring.

I am sure there are others that I am forgetting but that is the majority of it. Now to get Mrs. Smokey to relent on this bike in the house thing. Rolling Eyes

What mods/work do you have planned?

I want to have this done by April Darkside Rally.

* Mount new trunk
* Install HD bags
* Paint trunk and bags to match custom (existing) paint job
* Do my two into one pipes
* Paint my pipes black (the smokey way)

Now, take this into consideration......I don't take my bike down for the winter because I ride every day, so I expect to just only have the trunk and bags done.

Heh..."winter" is tentativly scheduled for Feb 16th here...and maybe a bit into the 17th...so my mods are limited to...hmmm...maybe chipping a bit more of Alaska off the bottom of the bike and cleaning the bugs off the windshield!

I'm thinking I've gotta get another bike so I've got some downtime for any mods at all! Very Happy

Yep...gotta get the trunk mounted...finally wire the Stebel, install the polished radiator inset piece, and lose my finger prints again polishing the entire front end. Twisted Evil

Twin, it sure going to look fantastic when you mount the HD bags, they look good now. The trunk is going to look fantastic too. You park it out front of your job and it can see it when you ride down Fla. Blvd about 400 +/- from the bike. The color really stands out. Looks sharp but gonna look better.

I've got a bunch of little things I want to get done, but have way too much to do that needs done. We've got to "elderly proof" the house for hebear's Dad and I have tons of sewing that I need to get done for my Sisters before Nationals in March.

So far this winter I have done:
Pair valve removal
Scars mod
Biddy box
Running lights

Still have the sticky back chrome to put in the groves on the fenders.
After that I'm out of time and money. Paint will wait.

I'm a daily rider, so I'm hoping that even one of these will get done:

- hard mount my existing soft bags
- replace front springs with progressive springs
- put highway bars w/ pegs on
- take tank to get minor dents popped
- custom paint job

If I'm lucky, the soft bags will get mounted. lol!

I'm adding a bit more chrome and some nicer passenger pegs for my girl, but I pretty well limit it to stuff that can be done in an afternoon. The X is my daily ride unless it's raining or I'm feeling like too much of a sissy to brave the cold...that don't happen too much. I got online and found a wind chill calculator after a particularly cold night a while back. 30F at 80MPH gives a 7F wind chill with frostbite setting in in the 10 minute range...thank God for those generous cows willing to lend me their skin so I can stay at least reasonably warm...
