on my tire I do not change the pressure for 2-up... I run around 46 or so, I think most guys are in the 44-48 range depending on how they think it feels... have seen one or two around 38ish...

I run 40 with no problems. I know it doesn't like anything under 40 though!

Curious though, I've been running mine for 2 years now, so I'm not new to the game, but what do YOU feel or rather how does the your bike handle with the higher pressure? What would be the dif. in your opinion?

I have been running mine at 43 psi. Ride it there by myself and when the wife rides with me. It rides great there for me. IMO, I would not go under 40, especially if you ride 2 up alot, but you will have to play around with it to see what's good for you.

Two years and over 15K at 40 lbs with no problems whether one or two up. Guess it is time to jack up the pressure and give it a try since so many run higher than 40.

I run the same tire on my 1800R, 2up or single. I have adjusted mine and find that 41psi is right on the money for my riding habits.

Have fun with it. This is the place for wonderful idea exchanges concerning Darkside and all.

I'm always around 42-44 psi...i think everyone has to figure out their sweet spot...there is no standardized answer concerning tire pressure

I've settled in at 44 after 8k. We're almost always 2 up. I adjust the preload on the shocks but keep the tire pressure the same.

Goodyear TT Tire Pressure Empty RE GOODYEAR TT TIRE PRESSURE

Post  Larry Simpson Mon Feb 09, 2009 3:34 pm

I have been running mine for about a year in all kinds of weather.Scraping running boards more than I care to remember .I run 32 psi. I can't see why it would require any more pressure than what is recomended for a car that weighs a lot more.It just seems to me that it would ride harder and wear out center tread prematurely.(I could be wrong, maybe someone can enlighten me.) RIDE SAFE Larry S. Question Question Question Very Happy

imho the primary issue between mt vs ct is the contact patch while cornering. The sidewalls are intended to flex some while cornering but with the tread remaining flat when the tire is on a car. Since it has to heel over when a bike takes a corner I run a little higher psi to stiffen up the sidewall in the corners. Even at the higher psi the sidewall still flexes and gives me a contact patch as large, or larger than a mc tire. I ran it at 32-34 for awhile but it felt just a tad mushy. It wasn't a deal breaker but noticeable. But again I'm large and we're 2 up about 95% of the time. At this point I have noticed no excessive tread wear in the center. But, rest assured, the thought occurred to me also and I'm keeping an eye on it.

Goodyear TT Tire Pressure Empty RE GOODYEAR TT TIRE PRESSURE

Post  Larry Simpson Tue Feb 10, 2009 12:08 pm

I can see the difference in the load,I ride single 98% of the time any more I guess the difference is I have never had the mushy feel out of this tire. However I have a realy adverse reaction to bad road surfaces at pressures above 34psi. Do you experience any of this? (may be a difference in bikes) RIDE SAFE Larry S.

Larry -

No I Haven't. Just the opposite. At 42 I still scrape the pegs sometimes on any hard surface. I also have Progressive fork springs and shocks. I don't know if that makes much difference but I feel very solid on rough roads too. And again, the difference is very slight. I could be happy either way. And btw you were very diplomatic and didn't ask. But to give you some perspective on the load, I'm 5'10" at 240 and my girlfriend is 6'0" at 145. So we're probably a little larger load than the average bear.

Goodyear TT Tire Pressure Empty Tire pressure?

Post  yank Thu Feb 19, 2009 10:42 am

I've run everything from 38lb to 46lb and have come up with a pressure of 41lb that works the best for me NOW, I have 15000 miles on the tire and that pressure seems to work the best, I also weight 250lbs and I like a harder firmer ride then some. I run the same pressure 2 up also.
