Metal Valve Stems Empty Metal Valve Stems

Post  Steve-O Sun Oct 19, 2008 10:37 pm

I replaced my valve stems with metal ones when I changed my tire.

In retrospect, I would not do this again. I have lot's of difficulty checking the tire pressure with standard guages. They just won't fit in. Angle and such. Sometimes I can't air the tires up for the same reason.

In the future, it's ruber valve stems for me.

Just my opinion.....

Gotta replace the 1800s straight rear one with a 1300s 90* rear one next tire. Royal PITA with the bags and such.

Speaking of Valve stems, HOw in the world do I get Dynabeads in my 1300C rear tire with the 90* stem. It rides pretty smooth now with my CT on it so I wonder 1.) do I need the dyna beads 2.) How do I get them in there? BTW got 1000 miles on it and love it.

Pretty explanatory.... I would use them because as the tire wears and that takes for ever!!!.. Shocked it always re-balances for the tire wear! Congrats on your Darkside!

Welcome to the wonderful world of the Darkside..... Cool (even though most people don't believe you.......hehehe)

Put mine in before the tire went on the bike. Be a real pain to do after the tire is mounted. Might have to get a long tube, jack the bike up and tilt it to the right side. Definately a 2 person job.....

Good luck,
Jerry

Here's some more good advice. Because the weather can be dry sometimes static builds up on the plastic tube and no amounts of "engraver" will make them go down. Spray some "Static Cling" that women use on their dresses to keep them from riding up and the dyna beads will go right down!...... Wink

Didn't know they made a 90 degress valve stem! Still going with flexible next time. Need to be able to lean it over just a bit to get all tire guages and such to fit....and need to be able to get dynabeads in.... Very Happy
