Took a ride out Hwy. 209 into Hot Springs , North Carolina

Hooked-up with Lucky 13 and a co-worker of his Allen who rides a VTX this morning and headed for North Carolina. We met Normandog at Lake Junaluska and he took us on some awesome backroads into the Carolina mountains.Did'nt take many photos we was busy ridin' Shot below is outside of Hot Springs on the twisties of Hwy. 209.

The local weather man claims the 3 rd weekend in Oct. will be peak fall colors in the mountains. That's our weekend folks Took this shot today and some of the trees at higher elevation's are starting to show some color now. Man yall are making me miserable. Such a good time to ride and I am stuck offshore. Not complaining, but you always want to be somewhere you are not. Here is a pic of what I am looking at right now.

Do you get to fish ? How far is land ? If you can fish do you have the right or means to eat the catch ? How deep is the water under you ? How long do you stay out at a time ? How many hours do you work a day ? What do you do after you get off ? One last one ...Do you get paid for every hour you're on the rig ? DAMN that Smokin'joe ask alot of questions I live in Tennessee we don't have jobs like that and I was just wonderin'

On some vessels we do get to fish. It is not legal unless you have a commercial license. But you can’t tell most coon-asses that. Yes we do is the right answer to that question. Yes we do eat them when we are out here. You have had frozen fish and you know the difference. Lots of fresh fish about 2 or three times a week. Almost a must

The water depth at the Constitution is 5,800 feet deep. We are 135 miles offshore due south of Houma La. I will probably be out here for 4 more weeks. I have 2 weeks behind me already. It is just a job. I told you before that I work for the major oil companies as Company Representative. My job is the Company Man. I over see the work being preformed on these projects. Basically I ensure that the job is being preformed as it was designed to be done. I work from 84 to 100 hrs a week. There isn't anything else to do but work. The average week for any worker offshore is 12 hours a day 7 days a week. When I am off, I am off. I can go and do as I please. I don’t have a set schedule which does not really allow me to roam too far from the house. Most jobs offshore do have a schedule most often a 28 days offshore and 28 days at home (28 and 28) It can vary to 14 and 14, 21 and 21. Some people work a 28 and 14 schedule. It really depends on your relief. I have almost 300 days offshore this year. I am not greedy but I have goals. I want to retire early at 55 if at all possible. If the economy does not improve soon I wont though.

Just to let you know that the oil field is WIDE OPEN right now and if you wanna work 180 days a year and play 180 days a year. Come on.
