Kawasaki 900 Empty Kawasaki 900

Post  arch01 Sun Jun 29, 2008 11:42 pm

Hey guys, I ride a VTX, however since I have mentioned the darkside to my buddy he has been interested in the idea. Anyone out there riding a 900 on the Darkside? If so, what tire did you find works the best.

Thanks

I don't think anyone has put one on a kawasaki 900 yet. but it shouldn't be any different than the other bikes. They have tubless tires if I recall. So you just need to measure the tire and get a like sized car tire. Probably the same one we have on the 1100s.

Post his tire measurements and we can make a recommendation.

Kawasaki 900 Empty Vulcan 900

Post  wallacem Sat Aug 30, 2008 8:07 pm

I would like to say to any of you that have a Vulcan 900, be sure to change out your front pulley for the one Scootworks.com sells that is 2 teeth larger. It helps to correct the speedometer error. Factory error is about 10%, and the new pulley reduces the error to 4%, much better. Makes the odometer 2% slow. I put it on mine and felt no loss of power, helped the cruising RPMs. Made it real comfortable running 80mph down the interetate. I did not put a CT on it but that should help also. Make the tire 4% higher and the speedometer should be spot on. Wallacem in Ga

How old is your 900?

I've been looking fairly seriously at the old KZ900s. They were a fast bike for the time. Still like the 900 custom.

Have your friend pop by. We can help! 900 has a cast rim methinks. It's chain driven if I recall, which may limit some things. But I'm sure a car tire like the kumho would fit nicely.

Hi guys, I usually post over on the Delphi forum site, didn't know about this one.

I have a 2007 Kawa 900 LT and currently have about 3000 miles on a General Altimax HP 195/65-15 with 36 pounds of pressure today. I really like this tire, with the exception of increased traction on dirt, gravel and wet roads I can't tell the difference between it and a MC tire. I don't feel any lumps like the ridge you get on the MC tire. It seated about 80 pounds with a 50/50 mixture of Dawn Dishwashing soap and water.
