Just got my 205/70 General Grabber mounted on my spoke rim, with a tube! 85 psi, and 130+ mph on the stand, and she poped into place . Yea baby

Congradulations As far as I know you are the first. The General grabber seems to be the tire of choice. I tried with a diffrent tire and failed. (I have been changing tires for years, so it was not from lack of experence) let us know how it rides.

Re: I got it done! Am I the first?
I don't think I need to cover the R&R of the tire and wheel or mounting it. I will say what I did different. As stated above I bought a universal tube, 215/225/235-14"-15". I thought the stock tube looked a little small for this tire. The valve stem hole had to be enlarged to 7/16" to accommodate the larger valve stem tube. I mounted the tire using a mixture of dawn dish washing soap, 25% dawn-75% water. After I mounted the tire, I put in 65psi of air, but the bead did not seat. I installed it back on the bike and let out the air to relax the tube in case there were any pinches or twisted spots. Then I added 85psi, and with the motorcycle on the stand I started it, shifted into high, and gave it all she had. I heard two sweet pops that almost sounded like backfire, and she was seated. I thought that I might have to run it at high speed on a stand because I had a HD that I put a VW tire on, it also was spoke & tube, and I had the same problem of seating it until I did that. Hope this helps. I might mention I am no tire expert, and I am sure this is not proper procedure, and may be considered unsafe, but it has worked for me twice now. Of course you do this at your own risk. Good luck. Larryhorseman8m wrote:great job PaPa , would you do a step by step on how you did it , it would help others who want to do the same thing,

Re: I got it done! Am I the first?
Post the name brand of the tube and where you got it and part number, for future guys.
I like the grabber and thinking about it. It looks like it has a rounded profile, and not square edges.
Does anyone know if they make it in the 65???????

Re: I got it done! Am I the first?
I picked the tube up at a local tire shop. I don't remember a name brand. It is a universal as I stated, 215/225/235-14"-15". Also I forgot to mention I had drill out a little larger hole for the valve stem. I drilled it to 7/16".wayne wrote:Post the name brand of the tube and where you got it and part number, for future guys.

Re: I got it done! Am I the first?
A 65 series would be smaller then your stock tire according to the tire calculator. Not sure if you would really want that even if they did make it.papa wrote:I picked the tube up at a local tire shop. I don't remember a name brand. The tire is a 205/70/15 general grabber uhp. There are no clearence problems, but any wider and you would have issuesROADHAWK wrote:What is the tire size and how close does the tire come to the fender bracket
