New to the darkside 08 Vulcan 2000 Classic LT
Hello everyone, I have been contemplating going to the darkside for awhile now. I have been researching here and on a couple of other sites trying to get as much information as I can to help me make up my mind. I have decided to try it and am going to get a Goodyear Assurance TT, 205/60-16 mounted on Wed. I am really looking forward to trying it out and will get some pics up and my thoughts on it as soon as I can.
Here is a teaser pic of the bike with the mt on it still.

Welcome to the Board!
Get a pic of the car tire on that pretty bike and maybe one of the big grin you'll be wearing...

Well I got the new tire mounted and rode it home, about 25 miles. The shop that mounted it said the bead set at less than 40 psi, as he had to add some air to get it to 40 after it seated. I still have it at 40 psi and will start deflating a bit at a time over the next few days till it feels right. My first impressions are mixed. I'm excited about finally doing it. I first noticed how much feedback it gives me on the ruts in the highway. Also how much differently it feels at slower speeds, like when driving through town, around 20-25 mph. It feels like it is trying to upright itself or something, hard to describe. There are a few 45 mph curves on the way home that I usually take at 70 mph. I took them at 60, just to be sure I would make them, and it felt fine. The last one I accelerated through it and came out at 70, it felt fine. I'm hoping once I start deflating it searching for the sweet spot I won't feel the ruts pulling it so much and maybe it won't feel so resistant around town.
I put the tire on at 28618 miles on the odometer. Guess now all I can do is ride that sucker til it's done.

Looks good on there for sure! Congrats. Drop the pressure to about 35 and you will feel the ruts less.

Rode about 250 miles today with the wife. I am at 35 psi now and seemed to get along very well with it. The wind was blowing pretty hard so it was hard to tell much fighting that crap.

Awesome looking tire....Is it a GoodYear Triple Tread ? Keep us posted on how you like it as you ride with it. Nice looking scoot you got there.

Yes, it is a Goodyear TT, so far I like it. It is taking a little getting used to on the uneven streets, they way it pulls me around a bit, but it isn't bad. I am definitely willing to trade that for the extra mileage I hope to get out of it.

Have no fear on the mileage concern, you'll do a lot better with a car tire than a motorcycle tire. I now have 12,000 miles on my Hankook, and it looks as good as the day I had installed. Let us know how the GYTT works out for you as you add the miles. Play with various psi's, and you'll eventually find what works for you. You really have to do about 1000 miles before you find what is perfect for you, as well as get totally comfortable with a CT.
