Hi guys and girls,

I have been reading about the Dark Side for quite some time on the VTXOA. I ride 5K to 8K miles a year, and was tired of changing tires every 7 to 8K miles. I even started changing my own tires to save a few bucks. When I heard about the CT Dark Side, I was a little skeptical. The more I heard (read) the more convenced I became. The nay sayers started to sound like small minded people that reject any notion of change without giving it a chance or try. 90% of those that really tried it seemed to embrace it. The other 10% that said they tried it and went back, I'm not so sure they tried it at all !!! I tried it, ( Goodyear tripple tred 205-60-16) love the look, and got used to the feel in about 10 miles. I now have only about 150 miles on it, but don't see any reason to change back. Very Happy I would not recommend it for sport bikes, but for cruisers, it's the way to go. What a great ride.

Question; has anyone worn out a car tire on their cruiser, and if so, at what milage?

I’m into it about 8 thousand miles. Still looks new. I have heard the average is 20 grand. I think mine will dry rot before I ware it out. I like the way if rides the most. I was able to put 1200 miles on my scoot last week before having to return to work. About 10% of those miles were in the rain. The wet weather traction is phenomenal.

Ride safe.

Michael ... I just barely swapped mine out at 12K miles. I had the Kumho 165 on it and it is a shadow. I think this bike just eats tires. I got 3000 on the last Dunlop 404 I put on the bike. So 12K for 50 Bucks was much better than 3K for 120 bucks.

The improved braking, better freeway stability, better traction in rain, and the badass look are all just perks! Smile Welcome, and I'm glad you like it. Just wait till you get caught in the rain once. You will be in awe at how that rear tire sticks to the road.

I have about 25,000 on my douglas 40,000 tire. It needs replacing, I hit the wear bars some where between 18,000 and 20,000. $40 for the tire, $10 for mounting and $6 for dynabeads = 3 mt. I might have to put another ct on.
