Hello Everyone - I ride a 1990 Harley Fatboy with a 1990 Liberty Classic sidecar..,[first year production for both].., being a disabled vet it was the only way I could "stay in the saddle" .., and keep riding. [see pic below.]
-
All three tires on my rig are the same size 130-90-16.., recently installed a new set all around.., but I want to travel into the Darkside..., for many reasons.
-
I was told that the only way to get ct's on my rims is to have them modified and welded.., and welding on these rims just isn't going to happen. [ Solid rims - cast aluminum.]
-
Is there a car tire that will fit these rims? With all the manufacturers and sizes available there's gotta be one out there.., somewhere.

Thanks,

depends how much clearance you have to go with a little wider tires... those are pretty thin! Welcome to the forum!

I'm about 99 % sure you will not get a car tire to mount on the rear ....The belt's in the way .

The closest thing I have found is the 500/525-16 ($99) or the 550-16 EXCELSIOR bias ply tire at Coker tire. Being a bias ply I'm not sure what kind of mileage you would get with it. The 500/525 is just a tad smaller width wise than your stock tire and the 550 is almost the same size except for being about 1.25 inchs bigger diameter wise. You'll have to go to the Coker tire site and compare their vintage bias ply tires to normal tires and make up your mind if they are worth buying. I don't know of anyone that has used them so sorry I couldn't be more help. Neutral

ooops almost forgot, the coker tires will need tubes.

Great looking rig with that leading link front end. I'm headed to leading link myself, so that Tracy can drive this thing.

I'm following the thread given that my other hack is an 02 Ultra w/ CA Friendship III car...

Well sir! Let me begin with a thank you! Thank you for serving our great country!!!!

Like someone said...we might need to make sure you have the clearance. Tires and finding the correct ones after that is going to be tough.

d'Lynn,
You sir, have the ultimate rig, in my opinion. The 1990 Fatboy Grey Ghost is my favorite Harley of all times and the Liberty hack is my favorite hack. After all, the Liberty is a near copy of the early Harley hack that Harley should never have dropped to produce the ugly tub. Rumor has it they have discontinued sidecars all together for ever, as of a few weeks ago. Who knows ???
I'm wondering if anyone here on the Darkside, knows where Harley got the name for the Fatboy?
Hunh, anyone besides d'Lynn?
Peace !
