BF Goodrich

Post  mastermechanic on Mon Sep 22, 2008 7:55 pm

I've been riding on the Goodrich now about 2000 miles and it still feels kind of wiggly. Especially goin gover uneven surfaces. Makes it harder to control. At first I thought maybe something in the suspension was getting loose. But now I think it's just the tire doing it. Remember the Venture is about 900lbs. so maybe the flatter tire is moving the weight side to side. What do you guys think?

I wood get down from 40 psi until you get the right tire presure
It took me 1000 miles to find out the right tire presure
i'm at 36 psi but it's a 225/50 ZR /16 W 300 kph HI-speed extreem rated sport tire with soft side wall
at 30 psi it was great but i could feel the side wall " buckling " when asking for more power in twisty road
I'll live with it until ...the next one will be a Michelin HydroEdge stifer side wall lower tire presure

"I can feel the force coming out of this one "

You will feel grooved pavement more, that's for sure. I think that's the first thing a lot of us discover. For me, it was just something to get used too. You have a much bigger contact patch with the pavement.

36-40 psi is where i keep my rear tire pressure , cut out a lot of the uneven feeling of the road, more pressure and I feel little bumps in the road.

mastermechanic.....check you rear shock rubber bushings????? If they are anything like the Honda ones, you might need to replace them with some nylon bushings!

+1 on the bushings....After that its playing with the pressure until you find a comfortable place......

Ok here is my version, its a 155/80/15 TE Radial running at 35 psi, on a 07 royal star tour deluxe .So far feels about 95% same as the dunlop it replaced only notice it when powering out of a 90 degree turn. I Like it so far (only have about 30 miles on it so far)

You still like that tire? Wondering if when you put it on, you took a look at the clearance and figured if you could put a wider tire on there?

Also wondering how many miles you can get out of that tire....let us know when you have to change it....

since its my fist foray on the darkside I went with the tire that was as close to the mc specs as i could (155/90/15) prolly could go with the 165 but so far it rides real good, now have about 150 miles grooved pavement is an experance but other than that i dont even notice the difference now. but almost all my riding is cement roads with little to no twisties (dallas tx area)
