2007 yamaha warrior 1700
hello darkside riders, I'm a new darksider and have been riding off and on for 28 years. my latest ride is a 2007 yamaha warrior 1700. I have been reading some of your postings about using ct's on bikes. I'm very interested in finding out what size ct will fit my ride, my current tire size is DUNLOP D220 - 200/50/17 if someone can help me with a brand and size i will give it a try, thanks dwayne h.

Warriors
Im new to this forum and brand new to the Darkside. In fact Ive got the tire mounted but its not on the bike yet.
The best source of info on the net is at RSWarrior.com (Im Monstrddg on that board as well and have been active since 02 when I picked up my Warrior). Several on that site are running car tire sized 225/45/17 and 235/45/17. My bike has been lowered 2.5 inches in the rear so I opted for the 225 and a BFG g-Force T/A
heres a pic. of my new shoes

The stock bike needs some serious work for two up rides however I generally don’t so the rear seat, passenger pegs atnd the sissy bar are usually not on. As far as performance and ride go, I believe it was the best on the market when it came out but with the advent of some of the newer "power cruisers" its in need of some refreshing to stay competitive. When the Roadliners came out many of us at the RSWarrior.com site expected the 113” motor to make it into the Warrior but they came out with the Raider instead. It’s now mounted and I took my maiden ride, it will take some getting used to. Where it used to lay down in the corners it now wants to stand up. I guess it’s the price I pay to be different. The reason I chose the tire was because of the flame pattern in the tread. Does that make me shallow?...
Dwayne, Sorry about hyjacking your thread, it wasnt my intention...

Re: 2007 yamaha warrior 1700
Monstrddg,
Try different air pressures, you can minimalize you car tire wanting to stand up on you! In some cases the feeling goes away completely when you find the right air pressure!

Re: 2007 yamaha warrior 1700
Thanks for the welcome....
If you look closely @ my taillight youll notice what remains of my Bridgestone Exedra. I suppose if I ever plan on burning off my BFG I better invest in a stronger clutch.
As far as tire presure goes, where is a good place to start? Currently its at 36psi. Do most have better luck with more or less or does it completely dependant on the bike and/or tire.

Re: 2007 yamaha warrior 1700
Bike and tire....I have gone from 33 to 44 and still change it once in a while to match riding conditions... The highway with 2 up I like 41, going thru twities I like 36.....I would suggest incriments of 4 lbs. You will know when you get close to your personal sweet spot....and you can fine tune it from there....

All car tires and bikes and any combination of any of these...and especially your tire that no one on here has ridden on the street! It's going to be trial and error! I would love to have this down to a science and blah, blah, and that would be it. Some riders like them low and some like them higher!..depending on riding style.....again, another parameter you need to consider.
My suggestion is to set the manufacture suggested pressure for normal operation and move 5 psi increments up or down which ever way you feel you need to go! I wouldn't go more than 10 psi either way! You should hit something in that realm to get you where it feels good!
Sorry, I don't have much clearer data than that. I am running currently 38 psi in my 205 Douglas rain and snow tire!
Please let us know what you find out?

Thank you...If you would have seen it back in June of 06 you wouldn’t believe it’s the same bike. An off-road endo put me in the hospital and the bike was totaled.
(Ignore the messy garage, at the time I was in no condition to clean it for the pics)
A deal with my insurance man let me keep the bike and they gave me a check for $6300, a pretty good deal for a bike with over 30k on the odometer. 2 months and a prescription of oxycontin later I was back on the road...

You really done good! I gotta admire what you did with a broken bike. Most would have bought a rideable bike with the insurance money.

Re: 2007 yamaha warrior 1700
These car tires should come with a new clutch.
That warrior, It's hard to keep the front tire on the ground with a m/c tire. Good luck with the ct. I'm trying to get my brother to convert. Every oil change is a new tire. Every 5k on that bike. I guess you knew that already though.

New here
hello everyone, I'm new to the dark side and found it due to hearing the rumors of car tires on warriors....and I like what I've read so far and ordering some tires now. I"m riding a 07 warrior and getting 225 45 17s. Tired of changing tires after getting new ones and changing it after going to sturgis. I will let all know what i've gone with and how it works....

Bit the bullit
WEll I've done the research, checked out with some old Harley guys I know and bit the bullit. I got the a General 225 45 17 and got it on and went riding. It was really different but rode good. right now I'm running the tire at 41 psi so we will see how it goes. I took the rim off and went to my local wal mart and they put the new tire on at no charge cause I bought the tire from them. WEll I've put 2000 miles on the tire I"m running a 32 psi hit the pegs acouple of time while my son was riding behind me thru some S. curvers and said I had around 2-2.5 inch of rubber still on the ground. I think I found the sweet spot and like the way it handles. Thank all of you for any and all info it helped me.[img][/img]
