New 1800 Darksider
Add a new 1800 rider to the Darkside.
I have a 2003 1800 C and just put a Michelin 205/65/16 on the rear.
No mods required - rode two up with my wife and no rubs.
Did have to let the air out of the tire to get it to squeeze between the swing arm and drive unit.
Other than that, no problems mounting. I do notice the difference in the ride and having to use a little more effort to make it lean and hold the turn. It wants to pop up right due to the wide flat bottom of the tire.
But nothing wrong with that..... smoother ride is noticeable.
I'll post updates as experienced. Over 100 miles since the change on Friday.
Ray

Sure - would be great to be on the list. Great to support a winning effort and since I'm member #4 on the board I should be participating more. Thanks for starting this one up! Appreciated.

Hey Bobby,
Add me to the list. I ride a 2002 1800C
Also, for anyone reading this ... I bought a CT that appears to be too wide to mount on the rim. So, since I am ignorant at this still, I need some direction. If you have a 1800C would you please post the tire you are running on your bike. Thanks.

VTX 1800 list & link to shock bushings
Hi DARKSIDERS!
I would like to be on the list, but I'm not quite there yet - waiting to burn up a little more of my second Avon AM 23 200/60 HB 16. It was emergency intalled mere days before finding out about the DARKSIDE - I was cheezed that the first one showed cords
in 6500 miles.
Three weeks ago I put in Progressive fork springs for a Goldwing (1521) and highly recommend 'em
, but they didn't solve all of my stability issues so I just ordered new polyurethane shock bushings (supposed to be WAY better than stock).
See:
http://www.californiavtxriders.com/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?f=26&t=19602
(Shipping is $2 now, but Gary will ship several pairs for that - I'm getting six pr. for 3 bikes
)
When they get here I will order my tire and put 'em both on together
. My tire choice will be the General Altimax HP 205/VR 60 16 ($78 Tirerack.com), similar to Dan in N.H., only w/o modifying my bike.

Hmmm.... wonder why I didn't make the list
Just cause I've been out riding on my GYTT rather than posting on this 'puter. Got over 15K miles on mine and still have 6mm of tread left! What's with that? How am I expected to try out different brands of CT's if the dang things won't wear out???

Re: 1800 Darkside List............
Add me to the growing list of DarkSide riders. Went with a GoodYear Triple Tred 205/60/16 on my VTX1800N. Got only 4100 miles out of the Dunlop which came on it. Put the tire on November 14 and put over 300 miles on it 2 days. What a difference in ride quality. I will never go back to a MC tire.

Re: 1800 Darkside List............
You can add me to the list. Been riding Darkside, with ceramic balancing beads, for nearly two years now.
I'm thinking of moving to a Hydroedge 205/65/16 when I wear out this Falken ... only because a 65 profile will correct some of the infamous Honda speedo error. For those of you riding on the low profile tires (like a 45), how does that affect the ride? I would think it would make it a little stiffer.
