Got it done

Post  jedishon on Sat Oct 17, 2009 3:33 pm

Got the pipes on, the shocks on, put another washer under the jet needle (2 now), put the new K&N filter on, set the a/f screw at 2-1/4, changed the oil, and the rear end grease, got the new Yokahama Avid 205/75/15 tire on. went for a 5 mile ride. The report is the bike rides great, runs strong pulls hard. No leaks oil exhaust or other. The tire rides smoother than the douglas ever did. At 40 psi now might go down to 36 and see how it rides. Now the pipes. If a stock set is 10 and straight pipes are a 1, I would rate these at about 3-1/2 to 4. Loud to me, I was looking for something around a 6. The heat shields suck, feels like my pants would start on fire if I dared leaving my leg down at a stop light. Probably gonna have to put a black heat wrap over that pretty chrome.

Lookin' good. That second picture is off the charts in glisten.

I just put some black header wrap on my pipes and love the look of it. A little matte black just accentuates the chrome even more.

They are road burner double eagles with sound lowering technology. Sound good, nice rumble. I have a k&n filter 4 washers under the jet needle and 3 turns out on a hicks screw. Running strong.

Your ride looks very cool, shame to spoil it with ugly tape, instead of covering your pretty chrome with tape, maybe consider something like this heatshield I saw on Ebay recently, this is the link.
