INSURANCE INFO ON CAR TIRE

Post  colopaddler on Wed Nov 05, 2008 12:14 pm

howdy, a while back i saw a post regarding whether or not your insurance provider would cover you in an accident if you were running a car tire on your m/c.

yesterday i spoke with my agent for All State Ins. I drove my 1800 down to the agents office and showed him my bike with the car tire and asked if i was covered. his reply was "of course"

He stated that the tire made no difference regarding coverage..but if i was rear ended and the car tire was damaged, they would not replace the car tire with a car tire...they would replace the tire with what came stock on the bike.

not sure about what other insurance carriers would do, but is how All State would handle it here in Fort Collins, Colorado.........cheers, scotty

Thanks.
That is/was a concern of mine as well. I am gonna check with mine as well. (Geico, sp?) As far as insureance goes I have to say that Geico has not let me down. I have not had to place a claim for the bike but have a few on the cages. Knock on wood.

Yall ride safe

geico claim

Post  trantony on Tue Apr 21, 2009 7:40 pm

Well folks, just had my very first cycle accident. My fault to boot! I have Geico Insurance, and was amazed at the service and courtesy I got from this company. They sent an adjuster out 3 days after the accident to do a estimate and I got a check about 5 days later. If anyone out there is interested in not only great service, but a great policy price, give them a call. My 2 cents.
Ride safe and keep the shiny side up and the rubber side down.
