1800c question
Ok, I have my tire. I got a Bridgestone Potenza 205/55/16 (same tire as run by a guy on the Texas X board). Question... do I have to remove the fender to get this on, or should I be able to do it with the fender on? I've got a service shop (not a honda dealer) who'll do the install, but I think they might not be happy about it if they ahve to screw around with anything other than normal. I can probably get them to do the grinding on the bracket with the tire off... but more than that they're going to charge me shop rate. Any advice? I want to be well advised in advance.

Re: 1800c question
Morgan,
As I understand if any thing needs to be done to get the tire on an 1800. Is to let the air out after it's seated and it should clear every thing to get it by everything to allow it to get under the fender, then install the tire and air it to recommended manufactured air pressure.
Some 1800 guys should be along in a little while to verify this. Glad to have you and Welcome to our site. Make yourself at home. Also, congrats on your decision to go darkside. You will love it. I have been on the darkside for almost 3 years now. It's a blast!

Bwwahahahaha No problem TennX. Most all the 1300 guys are on here. The 1800 I have about 20 of them. You can check the Members list and find by post count, last visit, a user name. All kinds of ways to look at our members. It's a neat feature.

Re: 1800c question
Put a GYTT 205/60/16 on my C model. Only thing I wound up doing was NOT letting air out of the tire but jacking the bike up enough so I could roll the tire into place and lower the bike onto the tire. Easy enough; just went slow and used a gentle push or two. May or may not work for everyone but easy enough in my case. Good luck.

Re: 1800c question
Thanks, y'all. I'm looking at the tire with lust in my heart... my intake is off to get chromed, and I'm on a bikeless vacation for over a week starting Friday, so it'll be after st. patty's day.... but man that tire looks cool.

Re: 1800c question
the rail can be ground just fine with the tire off and the bike on a jack, but unless you have really short shocks, I don't think you could hit with the 55 series... might want to try it out without the grinding and see if you get any rub marks... dunno on that one, it's your dime for shop time!

Re: 1800c question
I am the guy Morgan mentioned in the first post. Everyone I talked to before doing the install said no grinding was necessary. I only did it to be safe... I am a little over 3 bucks, so I set the rear down pretty good. I took the fender off to remove the bracket and do the grinding, but couldn't remember if taking it off was necessary. I guess it wasn't, but I had a lot of the bike taken apart anyway and figured, what's another part...
Morgan, post up some pics when you get it done!
I'll drink a green beer for ya when I head up to Dallas Saturday for the Ghostland concert!

Re: 1800c question
The deed is done, I did grind the bracket for safety... I have a spare bracket that I could throw on for shits and giggles sometime if I really feel like it.
So I have my first 30 miles of dark riding under my belt. I was surprised at first of how "heavy" it was backing up, and was surprised at just how darn heavy the steering was.... then double surprised at how fast that 90% of that perception went away.

Re: 1800c question
Didn't read all the posts- sorry if this has been said.
My 1st DS tire was a BFG gForce sport on 1800C w/ 11.5" progressives. Nothing done to bike for tire to fit perfectly. That one was down to 3/32nds at 14k miles so was replaced w/ 205/65/16 HydroEdge
