Newbie to the darkside, '08 Stratoliner
Hi everyone,
Last year i upgraded from a 1980 Suzuki GS1100 to a '08 Strat. It was brand new, never had a battery or gas in it. Talk about a sweet ride!!!!!!!
After 5000 miles my OEM tire was shot. I decided to go for broke and put a $400 Avon on it. That tire was so sweet that I could slalom the white lines at 60mph! But guess what....? 5000 miles later and it wouldn't pass inspection.
Thats when i found this forum and did some reading. Everyone here (eastern NC) thought I was crazy when I told them I was going to put a car tire on my bike! So i did it.
Put a new 215/60/17 General Altimax HP on it this past Friday. The guy that installed it put 30lbs of pressure in it and told me that was plenty. I thought it rode great right off the bat! The only problem was I would get an occasional scrapping on the side when riding with my wife on the back. I was very hesitant to change anything because it rode so good! But this afternoon, i increased the pressure to 34 lbs and tightened up my suspension. The suspension was right in the middle at 6.5 inches. I decreased that to 6.25 to make it just a little stiffer. Haven't gone very far on it yet, only to the supermarket, but WOW what a difference. I don't know how it will be with the wife but single up, this is absolutely awesome!!
Thanks for all the great info on here guys,
Steve

I dunno how the Soosookeez are, but Harley sets up the suspension for like a 165 lb. flyweight rider from the factory. It was a big improvement, and even a smoother ride, jacking it up nearly all the way firm. Helps a lot on the Dragon too. The DS tire made it even smoother, along with all the other benefits.
Jaarch: your cookie is on the back, just under the fender! That's the only one I've found myself.

Cookies..... Somehow the box is always empty. The way it's going I think Twin would have to own a cookie factory to keep up.
Sorry Joe
