So i have been looking for an affordable tire for my 07 1800f for about 10 months now. well i waited long enough to have cords showing on the old tire. been contemplating darkside for some time now and was out on my vulcan88 yesturday and stopped by a little mom and pop tire shop and found a barely used hankook ventus v2 215 45 18 for $45. so i went home, got my vtx and took it back to them, they took the  wheel off the bike, mounted the new tire and sent me down the road for $75!!!

questions: the bike feels weird now, always want to right itself and cornering doesnt feel just right. i get the righting itself thing but is the cornering just something i need to get used to or is it all in my head? everyone i know thinks i'm going to die on "that stupid contraption" and one friend now claims he wont ride with me anymore because i could get him killed too... ugh some people...lol... anyway, i love the look of the tire and cant wait to get out there an really put some miles down!

Bruce, what air pressure are you running? Try changing it by 2 lb. increments and find the sweet spot where it feels good and corners good. I had a 1800 R, so the tire size is different, but I ran 3 different tires all at different pressures to be happy with them.
ride safe,

YES...YES...YES....The 'F' model is a beast of a different color..because of the 18inch rear wheel..personally have 40,000 plus miles on my 'DARKSIDED".."F"model. . started with the TOYO T1R PROXIE 215/45/18 ..nail to side wall killed the 1st one...15,000 miles... then a sidewall blister rubbed on drive shaft and killed the 2nd one at 15,000 miles..... currently running a COOPER ZPT ZEON 215/45/18 at about 10,000 miles..... i run 35 psi.......because of the tire width it presents a square shoulder at tire edges it will cause the bike to try and right itself...but also because of the low profile of the 45 series..short sidewall.....hang in there and with a little time you will conquer the feeling.......takes a little more counter-steering..........had people who after riding behind me they were waiting to see how long before the rear tire lost traction and slipped side ways...never has happened....looking at the photo you posted it looks like there is two seperate small headed phillips head screws in the deep tread groove directly left center line of the exhaust pipes or maybe i'm seeing things........................good luck.......... nope those are the wear bars with the little hairs sticking out of them... kinda does look like screws though...

thing i'm worried about the most, is i have more than one bike i ride on a regular basis, my vtx and my 92 vulcan 88 being the two primary bikes, the vulcan has a bike tire and since the vtx doesnt i wonder if i will ever get used to the feel...

too late...lol... she spins this tire waaayyy easier than the factory dunlop she had on her... i mean she melts this thing just on throttle, no clutch... get her rolling about 5mph and just twist and she melts it! lol
