First time posting. I have an 09 Venture and to put it bluntly, I'm vertically challenged. I put a Baron's lowering kit on the bike and it made a big improvement. Well, this weekend the tire blew out. When I pulled it I found several gouges in the tire where it had been bottoming out. I'm thinking of going Dark Side, but want to achieve the lowering effect using tire size instead of the lowering kit. The size that most closely matches the OEM tire is 165/80-15. I'm thinking that removing the lowering kit and then going with a 165/60-15 would lower it about the same as the kit did. I've only found one car tire in that size - Continental ContiProContact. Anybody have experience with this tire?

That tire(165/60-15) will be about 2 1/2" shorter than the stock tire, so it will lower the seat 1 1/4" but it will also make your bike pull a lot more rpm's going down the road. If you can change the gearing to bring down the rpm's you would have the best of both, lower rpm's going down the road and a lower seat. Win, win

You still won't be able to corner. All your crap will drag.
When testing Dan Koich's bike (he's like you, shorter with a slammed bike), I scraped just angling across the parking lot, not even TRYING to turn. He's going to change pipes, and as we watched the RLAP video, Jerry did mention that he had raised floorboards and of course, the lowered seat. These on a slammed bike might make it almost normal (which is still too low for my style riding).
Part of the fun is laying over hard and knowing that the back tire ain't gonna slip no matter what.
