Witch tire for an 01 Roadstar Silverado 1600
So I am in the process of going to the dark side and was wondering what tires everyone is running and where to get it mounted? I plan to ride 2 up on occasion and pull one of those Harbor Frieght MC trailers. My bike has Tsukayu jumbo strong bags and a harley batwing so I am a little heavier than most. I also weigh in at around 330lbs. I assume most shops will not mount the tire due to liability. I have seen tire sizes mentioned between 175/70R/16 to 195/60r16. What other sizes can I use? I am a DIYer so Im not afraid to dive in. Im just looking for some pointers before I make the switch.

Mom & Pop shops or HF spoons and some 2x4's and you'll get the job done. At your weight, you might better survive a 185/65/16 or 185/60/16 if you don't mind the buzzing motor
on the interstates. If you went to a 175/75, the upgearing is fairly serious; mine only works satisfactorily because i put torque cams in. And pulling a trailer from a stoplight, you
really do feel it on the clutch.

What size is the stock tire? You'll want something similar size, but not shorter. Multiply the first and second number together. The size you choose should be close and a little bigger than your stock tire. Wider tires are great for interstate and look really cool. Something similar width will reduce fit issues and act more like your stock tire.
On my stratoliner, I went with a taller tire and also changed my rear sprocket to give me more top end speed and help with MPG. This might not be the best solution if you are riding two up and pulling a trailer. But my 1800 has no problem with the loss of low end power. I should think your 1600 would have plenty of power to compensate for a taller back tire.

Thanks guys. I'll look into it. Won't a 185 raise my gearing?

Post you stock tire size. It depends on the first two numbers. There are some 175s available.
