My 1997 Goldwing SE is due for a new rear shoe. I am convinced that going to the darkside is not so "DARK" ad those that have gone that way actually post a few added benefits to the rear tire being a CT (car tire).

With this said, I have researched many sites with forums about what size is best that will fit under the smaller suspension cradle of the 88-00 1500 wing. The stock tire is a 160/80/16. I did read up on an article, with pictures, of a tire made by Dunlop or Austone (china) that is made primarily for taxi's, however, they say they sell several of them for the Goldwing. The company is Universal Vintage Tires in Pensylvania and they have a 175 16C (6 ply rating). This puts the CTR about 1 1/4" taller than the stock motorcycle tire. According to pictures of the article, it seems to fit and the one writing the article has not mentioned any clearance issues with it.

Has anyone out there tried this size of tire.....either the Dunlop or Austone CT. The cost of the tire is still less than than a Dunlop Elite III.

I am asking for any feedback before my purchase.

175/60/16 is the size you need, I have not used the Dunlop but have seen many reports of it working well! thumbup
