tire size
Ok so I am ready to go to the dark side if i can. I have looked at the data base and cannot find my bike. 2005 Kawasaki vulcan 1500 classic. Rear tire size is 150/80/16. I have a poked rim so i guess i need to run a tube or seal the spokes. I think i prefer a tube. Does anyone know what size car tire i will need. I am so tired of constantly buying rear tires, three or four a year.
Any help will be useful.
Thanks

Re: tire size
I'm running spokes and a tube. It seems cool. I took the wheel an tire off my bike and took them together to a auto tire shop and did a real size comparison. It worked out well for me. I did have to tell the guy that I wasnt there for advise I was there for a tire and I wanted what I wanted. After that we got the tire and I installed it.

tire size
Danny:
Your tire size is the same as what we have stock on a Harley Heritage Softail Classic. It's car tire replacement size is 175-75-16. If you haven't already found it, 9 threads down from your thread is a thread titled "Report on Austone...". This thread lists some, if not all of the tires of this size available in the US. Your reading should show you that there are only a few options available. There are good reports on the Austone and there are bad. Mine was one of the bad ones, but I bought it because there were/are good reports on it. The other tires have been tried, but not reported on yet by anyone with any long term use. You're almost at the Guinea Pig stage, like me and a few others. If you're willing to read, there are lots of threads in the Harley Davidson section regarding this size tire and the history of fitment issues. Good Luck.

Re: tire size
Yeah, and Dan gave me the tire with the problems. I had to put a lot of work into it to make it work, including computer balance, and tried
dynabeads first, then Ride-On tire sealant/balancer. I can't go over 85 with it still, but it does great otherwise.
You have, as Dan said, very few choices.
If you want tall gearing, the 175/75 is your ticket:
https://www.universaltire.com/dunlop-tires/dunlop-radial-tires/175r16-dunlop-taxi-black.html -which is basically a copy of the Austone, not many out there
due to price.
http://www.cokertire.com/brands/coker/550r16-coker-classic-blackwall-tire.html -and same story there, but no bad reports either.
and the sometimes problematic Austone: http://onlyoldiesgarage.com/xcart/product.php?productid=17220&cat=252&page=1 I won't recommend these now.
IF you are willing to ride a buzzbomb, you can go down to a lower profile and some VERY interesting tires:

There are some 175/60/16's but hey, another 250 rpm over stock? No way Hosay...unless you want a bar hopper!
