Hello everyone, this is the first post I have ever made in any forum. I thought I would tell you what I did as I looked to your forum when I was making my decisions and this may or may not help someone else. Read at your own risk ;p I bought 2 tires to begin with. Michelin Primacy MXV4 Radial Tire 205/55R16 91VR and a Dunlop SP Winter Sport 3D DSST RunOnFlat 175/60R-16. The idea being that if the 205 was too wide the 175 would work and I could put the 205 on my wife’s Vibe. Well After walking into the Yamaha dealership with three tires on my arm (the third being METZELER ME880 MARATHON TIRE, FRONT 130/90-16 67H as my front tire was bald also) and leaving to run some other errands I was later informed that the 205 went on no problem. In fact after looking at it a 205/60 16 would have been just as successful as it would have been just a tad taller. The primacy tire runs with a 44 psi max if I remember correctly I am running it with 41 psi. As with any new tires you are supposed to take it easy for the first hundred miles or so. My decision making processes have been known to fail me at times and I decided to take the 2 from La Canada, CA through Wrightwood, CA to the 138 across the 15 then up into Crestline where I live. The dealership I like to go to is in Pasadena ca, and I live in Crestline ca. This is about 120 miles and 2 1/2 hours of twistys. As my beast doesn't like to lean over very far (good thing for darksiders imo) I have always just done the speed limit and didn't alter my regular riding routine at all for this maiden voyage. I did notice that the bike did feel a little lethargic but nothing that would make me gasp, it is a cruiser after all. What I did notice that was huge was the smoothness, Amazing. On the open freeway it really shows off how smooth it is compared to regular motorcycle tires. With my wife on the back of the bike (the dog in the crate) and the saddle bags full a bump that would normally be pretty jarring gets absorbed into a pretty smooth bump and no bottom out issues with the tire. My back loves the new rear tire and so do I. I have put a little over 1k on the tire so far and still loving it. I doubt that I would put this tire on a bike that can lean like my old 750 night hawk or 650 gs or really any of the other bikes I have owned because if the bike was designed to lean and you are running up the twistys chances are you are going to be upset that you can't throw your knee out there at least a few times. On this cruiser though, I will never go back to bike tires again. For my next tire I am still going to use the winter run flat that I bought because I refuse to loose money selling it on the c-list but after that I think I will be going to a 205/55-16 or 205/60-16 winter runflat there after and just see where the road takes me. I would like to add that I never thought of doing the darksider thing because when I am working buying a new set of tires every 12k isn’t a big deal and I never really noticed it before. I put 700 miles a week on the bike when I am working and the miles add up. Well lately it has gotten slow for me as with most of us and I ran my tires bald finally having to shop around when I got one of my cards down far enough to buy 3 tires on it. Basically what I am saying is I am glad I am broke at the moment because in doing that shopping to get the best deal on tires I came across the DS sites and with all the benefits IMO and 2-3 times the mileage than an average motorcycle tire with a cheaper base price usually I found a great little trick that made my bike look better ride better and become more economical. Thanks again all you DS'rs, thank you for your posts and this forum.
Again I do not condone the use of Car tires on Motorcycles and that is a standing statement for this post and any post I make hereafter.

Good write up. Looks like a good choice in tires too.

How badly did the 175/60 gear the bike down? That has stopped me from going there with that tire.
