Toyo Extensa Hp on a FJR1300. I have found no down side so far except for the nay Sayers who have never tried it. I am comfortable at any speed I want to ride at and have found that i can do the twisties in the Black hills at the same or faster speeds as I did with any of my old sport MC tired. I have a Road Capt in an organization I ride with trying to tell me that it is dangerous to go darkside and that I have to go back. Any help here as to numbers of Darksiders, miles rode, accidents or ill effects to bikes etc. I would like to send him proof he is wrong. one of his points it that it will void my warranty although I have no clue where he gets that Idea.

He will probably try and tell you that you will crash and burn and your insurance won't cover you too... lafer
Lots of different bikers are using car tires now.
I know on the Goldwing board they have guesstimated that members there have collectively over a million miles with out a car tire related problem. thumbup

Too bad none of these people will take the word of people who have tried it. there are now about 60 of us on the FJR forum and some are on their third tire yet this guy makes a decission that I should return to a MC tire with out even talking to me. Passed the word through some one else. Just looking for info to send him to make him understand he is wrong.

You will not be able to convince him. Even if he follows you through the hills and see's with his own eye's he will not believe. Some people just refuse to believe no matter what. Go enjoy the ride, and let him enjoy his, you will both be happy.

New to Board about 27000 miles darkside Empty nay sayers

Post  Dan Koich Thu Sep 20, 2012 2:49 pm

A while back I looked at 3 forums that discuss darksiding. I think I concluded that there are at least 7000 forum members dedicated to the darkside, and they ride all of the makes and models of the cruiser style cycles, Harley and metric. If 5000 of those members put 1 tire on and rode it 15000 miles, that would total 75 million miles. For as long as I've been reading these forums, there have only been a few reports of problems. Some have wobble (I did), some have very short tire life (worse than stock cycle tires) and there have been NO reports of catastrophic tire failures and crashes. And forum members have frequently and repeatedly asked darksiders to report any and all problems. There just aren't many. The naysayers are wrong. They're wrong because they're ignorant, don't keep an open mind, don't read, and have no personal experience upon which to base their opinions. You might tell your Road Captain that he can learn by watching you.
