Mean Streak so you know.....
The 195/45r17 fits with no problems. It seems to be necessary to remove the final drive(takes just a few minutes, no trick). The minor down side is the decreased hight of the tire which will increase your revs to go your "customary" speed. For me, no big deal, I just don't ride that fast anyway. The big payoff is how it looks, AWESOME. Make sure your front tire is in good shape, otherwise it may lie to you when you take off down the road and you think the back tire is fighting with you. I put a new Michelin Pilot Power on the front this afternoon and presto, everything came together. I believe that I am happy with the Darkside transition, but next time I will probablt dive in and cut the driveshaft tube and go with the 205/50. I'll let everyone know when my hair catches fire.
