Another question/rumor?

How about the insurance bit I've been hearing from a few of my anti DS'er friends. Something about most of the motor cycle insurers are dropping DS'ers when they find out they have car tires on their bikes?

My insurance company (GIECO) did not care. The agent even thought it looked pretty cool.
Have used Progressive and they didnt care either.

I had an extensive conversation with my agent about the CT thing ..... He was way intrigued. When I crashed and filed a claim not a word was said about the ct. And for all the haters, no my crash had nothing to do with the tire. It was vodka induced.

I have never heard directly from a Darksider that they were dropped, refused coverage, or had any problem with an insurance company from using a car tire.

It's always people saying they heard it from somebody else that it happened

Usually it is from someone who doesn't find using a car tires on a motorcycle acceptable that you will hear this Urban Myth.

Wouldn't surprise me if the MC tire manufacturers start rumors because they may be seeing a drop in sales because of this, So are motorcycle stealerships. Just sayin. After all, they did put a story in a motorcycle mag. that was less than 100% fact.

I know for fact, as a 30k/yr rider, I save approx $1000/ year in tires, if there are only 1000 darksiders saving that much money annually, its a $1,000,000 drop in sales for tire manufacturers

No issues when I had a claim with Geico either....

Same here with Geiko, but they tried to rip me on the claim so I dropped them and went to USAA, being a Veteran. Saved me about $400 over GEIKO!!! Take THAT, lizzerd lovers!
As usual, naysayers spouting what they don't know, haven't experienced, haven't researched.

A friend of mine had USAA for his Venture. My Venture is through American Reliable with the same limits so when he called them they saved $800 a year. Just saying. Plus they didn't seem to have any issues about what kind of tires.
