I am wanting a car tire for the front , Asearch turned up this one . Any thoughts on the fit-up??

I always had the intention to try it and I still want to. However, seen that the front
will lean much more to the sides in curves then than the rear does, I have the feeling
this isn't a good idea.
A rear MC in front will be a better idea in my opinion. Writing this, I know the discussion
will be to put it in the forward or backward position.

The front is a Pilot rear , same size as the original front. Don't understand the front leaning more than the rear as both are attached to the frame an should lean equal amounts . Are you refering to more front angle due to the handle bar angle . if so it would seem to small to consider. After looking at the bike a few minutes ago ,at least till the front needs coming apart it looks like the tire would be to wide. I need 1.125 inch per side to make it work and I don't think it is there. But the Goldwing front fender blocks all seeing . So I will wait till the next time I need to check something and do some measuring.it would look sort of funny with a wider front than rear. But with that footprint I bet the stopping mana would be awesome. My main concern would be the low speed and crack following problem. it may be worse on a front steering than the rear.

If a tire will fit I will try it . Hey somebody tried the darkside rear setup firsrt ( right )

I don't know of anybody, other than a few trikers (who don't lean in turns) that run a car tire on the front.
I'm pretty sure I would not like it, I think it might be difficult to ride. Shrug

I would like to try it and see, I know the rear Dunlop is the best thing I have ever done to any bike.
What a Face Wow if a front worked as good as the back I could solve the space shuttle expense problem . All needed would be one of them fancy suits an oxygen bottle and a double car tired Goldwing. onelaf

I thought about trying it myself but haven't been riding enough this year to try anything.Also if you are having a crack following problem I would think you are proubably running too high air pressure. thumbup thumbup

Am running 42 lbs right now , I don't have a real crack problem since I lost that cool glass pipe. Could not help that one. But I do have a slight at 5 mph or so crack follow that is easy to compensate for . above 25 there is none whatsoever. I ran 36 lb for the first week and may go back down a few pounds later . I like the setup either way , but it has been a while since I ran the slightly lower pressure.

Car tire on front?? I have a 2011 RK and would probably try that for grins and giggles. Lets see, 17"wheel and is running a 130/80 . Bet that would be fun to find. Shrug

Anyone define the meaning of "crack" in the above threads Shrug

I'm looking for a front tire for a Victory Vision but think I'll try a rear MC tire, don't know about being the first to experiment with a CT on the front, but someone has to venture out to see if it works Cheers

Cracks in the road surface,centerline ect. Wider front tire makes handling much better.I used to watchout for road cracks on my goldwing but with the wide front tire on the front of the nomad most cracks are not a problem at all. yeah yeah

Thanks for the clarification. I guess since I have been running larger bikes with larger front tires I have experienced this as less of a problem. Now that I have a CT on the rear though the rear is the problem when it comes to uneven road surfaces. When I get in town on rough broken pavement or old roads that have settlement ruts in them the bike really tosses back and forth when the square edged tire starts to try to climb the slight elevation change. That's the only down side I have experienced with a CT so far besides a little more steering effort but that's no huge deal except I think it's causing more wear on the front tire due to the extra steering effort.

I am interested in putting a rear MC tire on the front of my Vision now and looking for suggestions of what tire to run. My stock size front is a 130/70r18 load range 63H, it's a Dunlop G3.

If you are still experiencing negative effect on road surfaces ,you are running to high pressure.The negative effect usually is not noticable between32 and 36 psi thumbup thumbup

Cool, I'll have to play around with the pressure. I started at a lower pressure, maybe 32 psi then went to 40psi which seemed to lessen the steering effort but maybe that will also cause the edging or deflecting that I'm feeling when parallelling uneven road surfaces.

I usually run 34 psi. , I see the uneven surfaces but don't feel them.The counter steer effect will become second nature and in my opinion is actually a good thing.The lean in any curve has to be more deleberate and therefore is more controlable. thumbup thumbup

Hi guys, darkside is great over 10K miles on my Yokohama S Drive 195/45r/17 UTOG 300AA Speed Rating-Z 32 psi. Bought the tire at Discount Tire, a friend mounted it, no problem, the speedo is way off, by 10 miles, my guy said I could buy a black box to fix the problem.. The ride is great, may go many miles on this tire, used to burn M/C tires every 8 K, will never go back. Rodsworth

I dropped my pressure from 40psi to 36psi and it did seem to lessen the tossing from uneven road surfaces. Just got a Bridgestone BattleAx rear in to put on the front, may do that tomorrow.

Incidentally, our club was on a run thru a small Ga. town (dont' remember the name) where the pavement was badly settled for a couple of blocks - EVERY ONE of us pulled off into a gas station and were all checking our tires for flats - only 2 of us were darksided. It was funny once we realized what had freaked us all out. That town is dangerous for bikes; we were all over the place.
