Need help is Georgia to go to Darkside....
I am in Peachtree City GA and want to get CT put on my 2002 VTX1800R. I am using it as a commute bike primarily and have already went through Metzeler 880 in less than 10K. Okay, I am 6'2" and 260 and it is a heavy bike so that is not too bad. I am just not excited about spending $300 every 10 months for the foreseeable future. I can buy the CT but know that I cannot mount it. Does anyone know of who I can go to and get it installed in my neck of the woods? Any input on best size and brand options for rear and front would be appreciated.
Also, my front tire is holding up well but should I replace it too with a CT? I can get both for $100 less than one rear MT but can save the dough or spend it on a new windshield.
Thanks for any help as I need to get it done this next week so I can visit TWO this weekend!

You might have to have an independent bike shop mount it, or take the wheel off the bike yourself and bring it in, I am sure someone will chime in to help you with a possible location of someone who can mount it for you. As far as the front tire, going darkside involves get a rear bike tire and running it backwards on your bike. Car tire would not handle worth a damn on the front... not saying it is impossible but not something that should not be done. Good luck! Btw, you will love the Darkside.

hopefully there is someone in your neck of the woods who can help you out with a shop name... might wanna try the 1300 board as well, more traffic there and might have better odds of finding your info.

I used a car tire shop with the fancy rim tire installer. I just had to remove the rotor from the rim and they installed it! $10

I have had one done at discount tires. Took the wheel off the bike and they did the rest. With the rotor on. Another was a one man shop, thought I was nuts but I showed him after that I wasn't.

Thanks
I appreciate the feedback. I will have to hit TWO next weekend. I am getting a Yokohama 205/60R16 put on my bike next Tuesday. I talked to local Discount Tire and they honored price I got off of Tirebuyer. Local bike shop will be installing it after I sign waiver.
My riding buddies think I am nuts but they ride over-priced Harleys. I will take it for few mile jaunt after Thanksgiving to see if it rides as well as I expect it to!

Eventually YOU'LL know who the nuts are...but it will take quite a while, since you ain't gonna wear one out anytime soon!

Northside of Atlanta, the Ride Shop will put one on. 678-236-7433 -they also do other bike work in general. Great guys, small shop off of Bell's Ferry Rd.
