1300R...what brand rear MC tire to put in the front?
i've been searching the tire size 140 80R17 or 150 80R17 and i keep find front MC tires, no rear MC Tire comes up in that size.
for those with a 1300R, what size and what brand MC rear tire do you have in the front or know of anyone with that set up?
Thanks!!

Re: 1300R...what brand rear MC tire to put in the front?
I run the Avon Roadrider. It works well. Since it is a rear tire it took a little longer to break in, Say 500 miles or so. But it has worked well for me and is lasting a long time. Of course working in Chicago means I havent been riding, so it will last even longer. I run it at 36-37 psi and it handles good, at 40 psi it felt like it wanted to break loose on real hard turns.
Hope this helps.

so, the tire size that you went with is a REAR MC tire by avon: road rider 140/18V17? you are not runnig a 150 in the front, correct? i did not see a 150/80V17 in that REAR MC tire.

I cant swear to the size. At the Moment I am 10.5 hours away from her. But which ever one you find will work. It changes the riding angle very little, but you can correct that buy adjusting the forks.

what do you mean about adjusting the forks?
also, i read that somwhere you mentioned that it was a harder tire.....my avon venums felt soft to me compared to the dunlops that i had stock?

Re: 1300R...what brand rear MC tire to put in the front?
It felt like a harder tire than the ME880 I had been running on every bike I had. You can raise the forks above the top tripple tree to adjust for a taller tire on the rear or the front. This will keep the bike at the riding angle that it was designed for. Whe I put a shorter tire on the rear I lowered the front by raising the forks 1/4" above the tripple tree.

I followed the arrow. I ride in the rain more than I do extreme front braking.

Re: 1300R...what brand rear MC tire to put in the front?
i wanted to thank you for directing me to the road rider....i just wanted to sum up the search around that i did:
after doing the research, for the R model because of sizes that we can have, there was limited choice in brand named tires:
140/80-17 size comes on bike
150/80-17 size max under stock fender. --- couldnt find a rear tire in that size
so here are the two choices that i found:
avon roadrider AM26 Universal: 2279213 (part#) 140/80B17 69V --- 7.5mm thread depth
metzeler ME 880 Marathon (rear tire): 1193800 (part#) 140/80 B 17 69V TL --- 8.0mm thread depth
So i ended up with the avon roadrider, as it was for $130 shipped vs $170 shipped (the extra 0.5mm was worth the extra). You can see the pictures below of the tire new tire. Since the avon roadrider is a universal (meaning can be used rear or front), it has the direction arrow on the tire (you can see that in the 2nd picture) telling which way to spin the tire if its on the front or rear. i followed that arrow, as suggested to me.
I will see what kind of milage i get out of this tire.....the last tire other than the stock dunny i tried (avon venum R 150/80R17 front tire) lasted me 20k. we shall see what i get out of this one.
