Do dyna beads break down?
So I recently swapped out the old tire. I had used 3 oz of dynabeads to balance it before. When I unseated the old tire, I was going to try and re-use them. however ... there were none. I was baffled. There were no loose dynabeads rolling around in the tire. I have no idea what happened to them. Anyone else experienced this?

Re: Do dyna beads break down?
I'm starting to wonder if they were stuck to the tire bead. We used pledge to seat the last tire. I'm wondering if my beads just ended up glued to my tire. Hmmmm.

Re: Do dyna beads break down?
I didn't have any Houdini beads after about 12,000 on them.
They were kind of dirty gray instead of white like the new ones, but they were still there.
Mine were "Dirty White Beads"...

Re: Do dyna beads break down?
Mine were there, along with similar sized little black balls of rubber - probably rolled up tire dust.

Re: Do dyna beads break down?
I took my front off and my bead were still in there but they seem too stick to different places in the tire. I ended up with a death wobble on the last trip before I changed the front tire.
Since dyna-beads are just ceramic beads used in place of sand for sand blasting, I think what twin 1300 said may work as well and not be as messy as dyna-beads, just use a few oz of air soft pellets and see if they are a good substitute. If they are not as dense then maybe some regular bb gun bbs. Those 2 may no brake down like the ceramics do.

I have wondered about using shotgun hardened shot, like maybe number 12.

Re: Do dyna beads break down?
Interesting thread, glad to read of the experiences some of you have. Makes me glad that I've stuck to balancing the tire and not using beads to do this.
The fact that some have the beads disappear and riders didn't even notice, kind of tells the same story about "Loud pipes saves lives", and that it's all in your head.

Re: Do dyna beads break down?
ONE GUY has Houdini beads and isn't sure what happened or if they were actually in there, and you want
to condemn them? Well, no one's trying to make you use them, but that's kinda flawed logic if ya ask me.

Re: Do dyna beads break down?
You sure make it a personal attack, rather odd that I make a statement about what is right for me, and you make it a condemnation of the whole practice. It brings up some question as to why you must make this such an issue, any financial interest in these beads?
Re: Do dyna beads break down?
Nobody attacked you man. I just pointed out that you pluralized a one-time event, and the tone of YOUR post sounds like
a condemnation of the practice; as though if you used them there would be negative results. You can't deny that. Read it yourself.
