Re: Front brake usage
Yeah, I thank God for this one. We stopped so FAST, I don't think the car behind me could have done as well, and had he not swerved, we would have been crushed badly. Probably the same for the guy behind him. I was actually a bit surprised at our stopping distance - I had the wife completely on my back, but I thought of nothing but brake control since I knew that was the most important thing ATM. I think this must have been about four seconds total, but I'm not sure.
My next cone day will focus on brake and swerve until I have it down so this becomes totally automatic.
I ride too dang fast not to do so, but I've been putting it off, preferring to do keyholes, intersections and weaves instead.

Re: Front brake usage
Quad, sometimes brake and swerve is not an option. Sounds like this was one of them times.
Had you swerved, you would of ended up getting run over by the cars behind you. You did good. Momma didn't get hurt and you're still here chatting us up. In my book that equates to a successful ride.
Now I realize not everyone can be the superuberbestdamnbikeriderintheworldlikeme ... .. but you did good.
See you out there

My bud is thinkin' on Sarah's Creek campground this weekend, in Rabun county - many are not open yet, and this one is primitive. See you around hwy 441?
You probably know the Dragon is closed until next week. Might as well come rip and shred with me and Ron! You are VERY welcome, and I'll try to keep up...
