Opinions on these 3 car tires for a 2008 fxdl
I'm thinking about installing one of the following tires on my 08 fxdl (low-rider) that came stock with a 160/70/17" tire on a 5" wide rim.
Anybody have any experience or knowledge about any of these three car tires and using them on a bike?
My concern is about running the Dunlop ROF w/out a monitor, which I can't afford right now.
My other concern is about the Nankang and if I'll have problems mounting it (because of the low profile) and it seating properly on the rim.

I know you Harley guys have very limited choices when it comes to going Darkside. My thoughts are the
Dunlop looks to be the best option. Maybe I missed it, but I didn't see anywhere that said it was a runflat.
The Nankang is actually a shorter tire than what you have stock.
The M&H even though it is DOT approved, will have horrible wear and wet traction.
Good luck with your search.

Thanks guys, I was leaning towards the Dunlop. (Doc, the "rof" letters in the tire specs stand for "run on flat")
In theory, according to the tire conversion chart everybody uses, this new dunlop ct is .98" wider then the stock tire, leaving me close to .4" clearance on either side of the tire to any bike part. I say in theory because I know from experience that not all tire sizes are exactly the same size. When I measured my original stock dunlop with the exact same size metzeler, (160/70/17) the metzeler measured .75" wider. So,... I feel like I'm taking a $250 gamble that it will mount, seat and fit the bike properly, leaving me at least .25" clearance. Wish me luck,... or stop me before it's to late. ;' )
BTW, I'm assuming the stock inner tube will work safely, or should I try to find one closer to the 185/50/17 tire size? The tire comparison chart
( http://www.discounttire.com/dtcs/infoTireMath.dos) shows the new car tire will be .77" shorter and .98" wider.
Thanks, Terry
