Another converter

Howdy folks. So, making some upgrades this year, and along with springs and shocks, I am getting new tires, and coming over to the darkside. Decided to go with the Hydroedge. I do not know a lot about tires or sizes. I know the 205/x/16 fits. The hydroedge has a 205/55/16 and a 205/65/16. What does the 55 & 65 stand for. Which tire is wider? Will they both fit without mods? I am putting in on a 2004 VTX1800c. Thanks for any info you can provide. So looking forward to riding this year.

The 55 and 65 represent side wall height. The 205 is the tread width. The side wall height is figured at 55% or 65% of the tread width. In this case the 65 series is about 3/4" taller than the 55.
I ride a 1300 so don't know which one fits best on your bike, but I'm sure others will chime in.

I have a GYTT 205/65/16 on my 06 1800C .... my speedo is MUCH closer than it was originally. IMHO I think a little taller sidewall (like the 65) makes the tire easier to mount.

Thanks guys. Ordered the Mich HE 205/65/16. Will post pics when its on. Also ordered the Metz880 for the front, progressive springs, fork seals, progressive 440's 12" std, new bearings for my wheels, and I am getting my rims powdercoated gloss black, with maybe a candy orange ring around the outer edge, to match the color of my bike. So I am thinkin I will think I am on a completely different bike when I am done huh?

I put a 205/65-15 GYTT on my 1800 S just recently and checked the speedo with the gps my last ride out and it is the same as the metz I had on didn't change hardly at all. Congrats on changing to the darkside you will love it!

with the 205 you may have to dimple the drive shaft tube to get clearance. i just installed a 205/65 on my 06 1800R this week and had too. Not much trouble at all though and you cant see it with the tire on. there is a thread for that. good luck.
