The question of size
I'm real interested in knowing what size I should get...
If I can get away with zero modification, that's my first interest. But if I have to grind some on the bracket, convince me why a size other than the first is better.
I'm probably playing red-rover to the dark side in the next 6-8 weeks.

Re: The question of size
Seriously? Nobody knows what size tire to use on an 1800c and not grind the bracket?

Re: The question of size
Sorry...I know that the 205/65/16 went on mine without having to grind it. Most are running either a 205/55, 205/60 or 205/65. The only think that might require you to trim the inner bracket would be lower shocks and the weight of passengers. I didn't trim mine at all, 1300C and 1800c have the same rear fenders.
I also have 12" shocks instead of the stock 12.25" and I don't see my pregnant wife riding anytime soon so I wasn't too worried about anything hitting the inner bracket.

Cool... I'll prob be safe, I'm only 200 myself, and my wife is barely over 100.

Sounds like me and her..you our doubles?
Re: The question of size
the 205 width would be the widest you can go and the highest should be a 65 with a 60 series being most popular. What;s the stock C model tire size again? I know it's a 180 and on a 16" rim, but can't remember the aspect ratio...
I'll just use it in a tire calculator to compare the tire sizes we are looking at to the stock tire to keep it as close as possible so the odometer and speedo aren't affected...

Re: The question of size
Stock C rear tire is 180/70/16. I put a GYTT 205/60/16 on my '04 C model and it fit just fine with no mod to the inner rail. Have heard of those that have to let air out of the tire to get it back on the bike and though I would have to go that route. Couldn't force it in from the rear of the bike but decided to jack the bike up over the tire and drop it down onto the tire. Worked like a charm.
Getting someone to mount it was the big problem.

Re: The question of size
205/55/16 BFG gForce sport with no mods to the bracket and 11.5" shocks
Now a 205/65/16 Mich HydroEdge. Same shocks and the fender rail with the ears cut off, with this bit of info- do not know if the mod was necessary but had to replace the rail because of a stripped nut and figured it wouldn't hurt to 'fix' it while it was easy!

Re: The question of size
the 65 series seems to work fine for 1 up folks and stock length or longer shocks without trimming the ears... the 60 series should be closest to the stock size and keep the speedo and odo about as accurate as they were before the swap...

Re: The question of size
I have a 205/60-16 on my C (factory shocks set on 4) with no mods....no rubbing from underneath with 2-up.
Mine did rub once against the driveshaft cover....but I was 2 up with my son (total of both about 425lbs) corning hard while laying into the throttle and getting on the expressway....Did not notice it while it was happening. I happened to see a a clean spot on the sidwall a few days later
But I am also running the Falken...which seems to be one of the softest tires.
