A newbie question !

Post  jayinjax on Thu Mar 17, 2011 10:49 am

OK, so I am tired of buying a rear tire every year for my '04 1800R. I have been using Metzlers 880's and have been reading a lot about the CT's and have a few, perhaps elementary questions..... Are there any mods that must be performed before you use a CT on the 1800?? And second, is the tire mounted on the existing wheel/rim?? And, lastly, where do you go to have it mounted?? Any guidance will be greatly appreciated, as I am a bit slow on the uptake! Tks J

no mods required unless you plan to go wider than a 205

it mounts on the stock rim

most folks have luck with smaller mc shops and offer cash, no receipt if need be. Not all joints are comfortable doing it...

Just call around and ask. I got mine mounted at a local Honda shop here in Charlotte, NC. I wanted to use a Honda shop because not all of the smaller shops know everything about every bike, so I wanted someone with experience mounting VTX tires. They also put the Balancing Beads in for me. Good luck!! I love mine. Never going back to a MC tire!!

Congrats and I have been on the darkside of 5 years now, I won't go back either! Just remember to let the mold release wear off and then you can ride like you stole and even harder than you can the motorcycle tire!
