1800 C Modle

Post  hdofdc on Thu Sep 02, 2010 6:30 pm

I have a 2007 1800 C model that I want to convert to a CT. Instead of going with the 205X65X16 that most seem to prefer which tire would be closest to the stock 180X70X16 MT on there now. I am concidering the 195X50X16? Am I missing something by trying to run an identical or close to OEM size? I run with a GPS so I am not worried about speedometer accuracy. I go around 305 and the wife is pretty heavy as well and don't wont to have to worry about the tire hitting the ends of the bolts that my saddlebag supports use. I have had the shock set on the highest setting since the bike was new and prefer it that way. I guess the long and the short of it is I want the life and traction of the CT without the need for modification to make it fit. I will have to ride 400 miles round trip to get to the nearest shop that will mount the tire so mounting it and then riding it home and finding out it don't fit is not an option. The good news is they do this a lot and only charge $25.00!!

Take a look at these to get an idea of tire size differences. 400 miles round trip to get a CT put on? Wow! Try checking out a few mom and pop shops closer to home.

that tire is still a bit short... you are gonna be running 6mph slow when the speedo shows 65... your odometer will run up the miles faster and the engine will be reved higher at any given speed...
