have you checked you MPG ?
Ok here is another plus for going Darkside. Well has anybody ever checked there mpg?
only thing I've done was go Darkside, my MPG went up 5 MPG yes I said 5...I had the light come on at 125
always and 3.1 gal to fill up. So now it's 140 and 3.1 so ether my speedo is off or I'm getting 5 more per gallon?
this would be strange that the bike would be reading more miles than it was before....HMMMMMMM
205/60/16 as reported should be more to the true speed so my bike must have really ben off with the bike tire.
what do you think?

Re: have you checked you MPG ?
Is your CT a taller profile or lower?
Mine is 1/2" taller (1" total) and with the gearup my mileage stayed about the same, but the engine works less.
I like the longer run thru the gears and the music of Screamin' Eagle II's!

Re: have you checked you MPG ?
Some have reported better mileage and others report about the same. Most ride so much harder with the car tire that we twist on it more, so we don't get better mileage.....LOL

I'm guessing the tire is slightly shorter therefor making the odometer read more miles than you are actually traveling?

Re: have you checked you MPG ?
i recently went to the darkside. i have gone thru a little over 2 tanks of gas with both giving me fuel mileage (per the odometer) of about 10 - 15 more miles before my fuel light came on. was 130 - 135 now i see 145. I know this is odometer mileage as the odometer simply measures the revs of the rear wheel and not true mileage as the odometer does not know what the final gearing is, so i am getting more wheel revs per tank.I also know that the miles has to be more as the rear tire is about 2.3% greater in circumference. Is the reason for the improvemnt due to slightly lower engine revs, couldn't be that much, operating in an rpm range better suited to the engine, and or lower rolling resistance of the CT? I doubt that small change in engine revs has made that much difference. On another note I am not so sure about the claims of more grip from a CT. It seems to me to be slightly less, but i do like the higher lean angle with the larger diameter tire before the floorboards scrape.

Re: have you checked you MPG ?
What tire are you running? If anything at all, the DS tires have MASSIVELY better grip than the MT's. Especially braking - I didn't really HAVE a back brake before the Comtrac.

My previous tire was dunlop D404, i am now running a Michelin Hydroedge 205-70-15. I did get caught in the rain yesterday 1st time with a car tire and i do have more grip in the wet, actually i was impressed with the tire in the rain.

Yep...definitely a plus riding in the rain! Great huh?
