Car Tire Bead

Got my car tire put on Friday. It's been too hot to ride much here in Florida. I can definitely tell a difference in the way it handles but it should be manageable.

This may have been covered before but I'm concerned about the bead. The wheel on my VTX100F doesn't completely cover the bead. There is about a 3/8th inch gap between the lip of the wheel and the bead of the tire. Has anyone else had this problem? Is it something I should be concerned about?

What tire is that? Looks like a new one for the 18" rim folks! Anyway, mine has a small gap, maybe 1/4 what you have...

Yep it is a General Exclaim 215/45/ZR18. If I can get 22,000 miles out of this one, like a friend of mine, I'll be very happy! I'm tired of getting 5,000 to 6,000 miles out of a mc tire.

I was afraid I would have trouble getting my Honda dealership to mount the tire. The mechanic swore it wouldn't fit. It did look a lot wider before actually getting it on the bike. I told him that I knew of several people that were running this same size tire on the VTX 1800 F without problems. Then I took a tape measure and showed him that the car tire is only about a half inch wider than the Dunlop mc tire I had on the bike. The shop manager had me sign a waiver absolving them of any liability which i was glad to do. When it was all said and done, they thought it was pretty cool.
