Bead Locks needed? Empty Bead Locks needed?

Post  VT-Xed Fri Sep 17, 2010 7:43 am

I posted this over in 1300 tech mistakenly, lookin' for answers in the 112lb-ft crowd!
"I just put a Michelin HE 205/65/15 on my 1800S, had some trouble, but not too much.
1 side seated right away @ 30#, the other side wouldn't even @ 100#. (Using tube, not sealed rim)
Put the rim on the bike, (on lift) and ran it up the the rev limiter in 5th (145mph), still no bead pop.
Let it sit overnight; No Joy. Next day, deflated it, slathered it with hand soap, ran the pressure up to 120 (with a locking chuck and standing by the cut-off valve on the compressor) and she finally popped the bead into place. -RIGHTEOUS!!!
Here's my worry: there's soap and goo all over the rim that oozed out of the spokes, so wouldn't a heavy throttle dump cause the tire to rotate on the rim and rip the valve stem out of the tube? It was still pretty wet inside when I broke it down after sitting all night.
It's been 4days/145mi, so the mold release is off, I'm sure. I'm dyin to wheelie it or smoke the new "fattie", but worried about not having any form of beadlock on this chrome rim.
OPINIONS???" What a Face
