I had been doing a lot of research before deciding to go with a car tire over a motorcycle tire. I was due for a new set of tires, so I had to make a fast decision. Do I spend $260 on another Venon R that will last me 6000 miles, or go to the CT for $130 and get 20,000 or more miles?

So I ended up taking the entire bike apart. I had the rims powder coated, I replaced all the bearings. New brakes. Flushed the clutch and brake lines. New handlebar risers. A new Metz 880 up front and a Goodyear TripleTred on the back. Went with Dyna Beads over conventional balancing. I finally got it all back together last Friday night. I'm glad I did the research; knowing enough to deflate the rear tire before trying to mount it.

Took my first long ride last weekend. It was a little "different" on the turns, but after 3 or 4 corners, I felt much more comfortable. The straights were smooth as glass. I am running at 40 psi and still need to do a little dialing in to find that perfect sweet spot. I weigh around 300lbs and with the g/f on the back (she weighs all of 100 lbs) I am afraid of the tire rubbing if I go too low on pressure or crank down the shocks lower than 5.

Any suggestions?

Welcome Aboard :pirat: Lowering pressure won't cause a rub, and stock shocks should bottom out before that also.

Don't be afraid to experiment, it's part of the process, getting your DS wings Cool Try it, you might like it

Congrats on your choice of going darkside! Welcome to all the whooplah! LOL

Lower your air pressure by about 5 psi and ride it and see how it feels. Stop and check for rubs! See how it feels. I think you will love the lower air pressure. JMO
