1800 N going darkside soon

I have a 2005 1800N with 7,200 miles. Original tires are close to gone and decided to go darkside with the back tire. Did some reading, and research and looks like the Hydro Edge and the Triple Tread are favorites among Darksiders. Was wondering if anyone ever used a Toyo? I would like to use a tire that is safe to seat the bead, not one that will explode under high pressure. I plan on putting a ME880 on the front (150/70-17) a 205/50-16 CT on the back.

Also wondering about the tread design. What is best for a bike? I saw a few saying symmetrical is the way to go.

The GYTT is a very popular tire. Nothing but good reviews. Safety first and formost. I am running a Toyo Proxie on my X. Im riding the F and that is one of few tires that will fit the 18 inch rim. Love it. 215-45-18

Congrats on your choice to go darkside and welcome to our site. You are going to love it. Except for the whole spontaneously combustion thing....... J/Kidding!

For most 16" tires they are symmetrical and work fantastic! But just so you know, they don't work any better than tires that are not symmetrical. You can't tell the difference between them.

GYTT is my choice of rubber...205-60-16...over 9000 miles on it so far and it still looks new...

you might want to rethink your tire height, the 50 series tire is pretty short compered to the 60 or 65 series that is close to the stock diameter. Toyo makes good tires, I got over 10K on mine... no complaints from anyone running toyos yet that I'm aware of and I am a big fan of their tires, got em on the scooter and the truck

+1 on the 50 series....too short of a tire, I don't think you will be satisfied with it.

Sorry guys I screwed up on those sizes. Going from memory ,which my wife says I have none, was wrong. Yesterday I purchased a Good Year Tripled Tread with the size of 205/60/16 (could not find a Toyo in the proxis that was the size I wanted) and an ME880 for the front with a size of 150/80-17. Should make a good set of rubber for the bike. Now onto the job of getting the wheels off and getting the tires mounted and balanced. I also bought Dyna Beads for balance. I'll post some pics when I get the new rubber on.

Alright...the tire is on and looks great!! Have not been able to get out due to a rainey day, but did a short ride after we got her mounted and it feels just fine back there. Looking forward to getting a ride in this weekend.

I was looking to do the same thing to my 1800N. was there any modifications you had to do prior to mounting the tire? and who did you get to mount it for you? i was also wondering how it was in the twisties? any hinging affect or can you still dropp into it? Any help would be great.

No mods whatsoever. Since I have the V&H Bigshots, I had to relocate the rectifier and i had to remove it from the mount to get the tire on. Brake pads were a little tricky, but managable. I had the local Polaris Dealer mount the tire. No problems doing that. Going to balance out with Dyna Beads.

Handles great and I can still throw it in the turns with very little effort. Rips your arms off on a quick take off. Really holds the road.

I also have V&H Big Shots. What are you talking about having to remove? and dose it go back on in the same location?

The rectifier is located just inside the swing arm, not far from the area where the V&H big shots bolt to the frame. All I had to do was remove it from the mount, mount the tire in place, and rebolt it back in the same place. Piece of cake...

curious...I have an 1800 fender....how'd you get that bike up high enough to change your tire?
