Installed the Michelin Hydroedge 205/65-16 and with the 1300 rear it's a great combo. Speedo is about 2mph fast which means if I'm at any speed limit I'll probably not get stopped. Now to the question. I put 42lbs in the tire and had the shocks were on the low setting. The thing rode like a Cadillac and handled great. Rode about 80 miles on it. Didn't hear any rubbing or notice any problems after checking it several times. When we got back I noticed ever so faint mark on the right side which was practically unnoticeable for the most part but it apparently had rubbed ever so slight on the right fender support . I checked the tire pressure and it's okay. I raised the shocks up to the 3rd setting and on the way home (15 miles) nothing further was a problem. I don't want to pull that wheel again so I plan to use my air die grinder and take a little off the fender support. I'd like to get a little more room in there so I'm going to put the bike on the stand, then put the m/c jack under the rear wheel for support and pull both shocks off and lower the wheel and swingarm down with the jack to get some extra working space. The thought occured to me about lowering the wheel being concerned about the drive shaft and u joints getting stressed or damaged by lowering. I don't need much extra space to work so how far can I lower the wheel and swingarm without being concerned about that or should it not be an issue at all...ie: it will only go so far down anyway and stop?? Need some input ASAP. Thanks

just let it down enough to get at what you're trying to do... it'll be fine, if you have V&H pipes, the bracket will stop it, not sure about other brackets....

Thanks. That was the plan...no more than necessary to make it a little easier.

Update...Went like a charm. More than enough room to work and all I had to do was take 5 minutes to pull the shocks and lower the wheel with the m/c jack. Tons of room.....problem gone for sure. There was no way if I could help it removing the wheel again....would have been a bummer. Shot the brace with some primer and a couple coats of black lacquer...looks great.
