I have been reading and I am seeming to get enough info to change over but that is where I am stuck. I have a 2003 VTX 1800 Retro and I am convenced that a Mich 205/65/16 is the way to go for me. Some questions: (1). Is there anything the mounter has to do as far as mounting it, any sealent or special precautions ect.. I plan on running Dyna beads with it?
(2). What brand front tire is/are anyone running with this rear tire?
(3). What kind of milage are you getting out of the front MT while running with the rear CT?

Any and all help is greatly needed

I just got my first car tire, a Goodyear 205/60/16 Triple Tread mounted on my 2003 1800R on Friday 3/27/09. The guy who mounted it was a tire dealer and said that he used the standard tire lube to mount it with no problem at all. He said that it seated around 50psi. I did take the rotor and gear hub off of the wheel before I took it to him so that nothing could get damaged during the install on the tire machine. I had slid the tire into place before I had it mounted and thought I was gonna have a hard time getting the mounted CT tire back on the bike. Those worries were trashed when it went back on almost as easily as the MT. I did have to use a little bit of force to get it past the final drive, but once past that point, it was fairly easy. I also thought that I was going to have a problem with the tire scrubbing. Nada. My next worry was that it might scrub while riding 2 up. I set my shocks on 5 and had absolutely no scrubbing. Didn't check it on a lower setting. I have just gotten through riding about 90 miles for the first time, and that was 2 up. I also used Dynabeads in it, and put them in the front Metzler ME880 as well. So far, this is one of the best things that I have done to my bike as far as ride comfort goes. It's very noticeably smoother, even on the bumps in the road. My girlfriend even noticed it on her own. As far as the mileage, I haven't checked that yet. My speedometer seems to be right on with this tire. I had a buddy run his up to 55 and signal me when he got there. I was running right along with him and I was reading 55 also.

My bike seems to stick the curves better, and handles much better when coming to a stop, and slow, tight, turns. The only difference I've noticed is that you do have to "steer", or should I say "counter-steer" a little more into the curves. It's not a bad thing, but just something to be aware of. I'm sure with a few more miles on the CT, it'll be just as natural as it felt with the MT.

Good luck with your new setup. I'm sure you're gonna like it. Oh, yes.....be ready for the naysayers. Some of the guys I ride with have already told me I've lost it. Twisted Evil
