Hey guys,

Brand new to the Darkside . . . introduced to this site by Battoo . . . thanks bro

Currrently gathering all the info I can find on tires for my '03 1800R.

Lots of info on the HydroEdge and the GY Triple, but those tires are just out of my budget.

Has anyone ridden on or put a Falken Tire on their bike, and if so, what was the verdict?? Question

Thanks

Welcome to our site and make yourself at home. You will love the darkside. Don't throw out the Grabber 205/70/15 for the 1300's. It's our most popular tire and looks awesome also!

Tell Battoo we said thanks!

My signature tire is inexpensive and available in 205/60-16, V or H rated. Mine is a little bigger, $80 mounted at a local tire shop, only H rated and it's fine. The Michelin HE and GYTT is still cheaper than any decent MT, and will last at least 3 times longer, money well spent. Good Luck Exclamation

welcome!!

There have been some not so hot reports with the Falkens at least partially attributed to the softer sidewalls... dunno which models have been to blame for the dislike, but a better tire might be a wise choice... you'll still be spending less than a MC tire, but get 3x+ the mileage out of it...

food for thought...

there's some other cheaper options (than the GTT) that have been mentioned and have good reviews... really the Falkens are the only tires that haven't and I woulda discounted "it" if there had been only one, but for a while a while back (in the old days of the 100 page CT thread) there were more than a few people who mentioned it... cheaper to get a good tire, or a proven one first than to get a cheap crappy one only to then throw that out the window and upgrade to a different tire.... Just my own opinion. If you were to spend the same amount on a CT as a MT you are still coming out ahead with the mileage you get out of Ct. Not to mention the performance of the tire. Mine corners just as well if not better. Comfort is way better. Wet weather handling is pronominal. My bike looks like Sheet because I have been riding it and not cleaning it. Maybe today, maybe not.

What I am saying is just do it and go with a proven tire. These guys here have given lots of good advice. The only advise that I would discount as bad is someone told me it was a good idea to cook bacon naked. Trust me that is not good advise.

Cooking bacon naked . . . HAHAHA, now that's funny!

I always very much appreciate the awesome advice everyone gives, it's so refreshing to get really good advice and not feel like your being duped by some slick sales guy.

Problem, or dilemna I am currently in is that I need to replace BOTH tires, plus I need to get 4 new tires on my wife's truck, and that can't wait much longer. As much as I would DEARLY love to go with the GY TT, I'm just not in a position to do so.
Everyone is probably right, and I'll end up replacing these tires at 5000 miles, but I won't need to replace her truck tires then, and I will hopefully be in a much better situation to get the better tire and be done with it.
Muchas Gracias to everyone, can't say enough good things about you guys!! :pirat:

I tried the falken but never could get both sides to bead. up to 140psi. Ended up throwing the tire away and installing the tried and true douglas. Went right on.

I would recommend a tried and true tire for first timers. And wide tires look good, but I have found the narrower Kumho 165 to be more maneuverable in city traffic. Wide tires look nice and are great on the super slab.

GIJoeJarhead ,

I have been riding on a Falken ZE512 205/60/16 for nearly two years now. Went right on, bead sealed immediately and there were no issues remounting the wheel. I paid $65 for it. Handles great, has an especially aggressive rain shedding pattern and looks very good IMHO. Balanced it with Ceramic Balancing Beads.
