Good morning,

I've been reading the Darkside concept for a few years now and considered it with my last bike, a Shadow Spirit, but never quite got around to it.

I've now got a Boulevard C109 with a stock 240 rear and thought "Why not?"

The stock tire has 19,000km on it and will likely need to be replaced within the next month or so.

I've read and re-read many blog posts (Daniel Meyer's stuff is good) as well as many pro and con forum write ups as well and am convinced that this is the way I want to go. What I can't find alot of information on is tire selection.
I'm stumped when it comes to finding which direction to look in when choosing a car tire.

I would appreciate any suggestions.

Thanks in advance

Don

http://www.cartiresonmotorcycles.com ---------------This website has a link that gives you the "nominal" differences between any tire size that you might want to use on your bike. Just put in your current tire size, and the one you're considering using, and it'll give you the "nominal" measurement differences between both. It's not exact, but pretty close. As to which tire you want to go with, that'll have to be up to you. Personally, I went with the Goodyear Triple Tread 205/70/16 on my '03 VTX 1800R. But, like I said, it's up to you. I would at least stay with one of the more "proven" brands that the guys on this forum have gone with, though. If you've been reading for over a year now, you probably have a good idea of what you want to use.

Hope this helps. Good luck, and RIDE SAFE!!!

Pick any of the top three and go to discount tire and see if they have one the same size as you have on your bike now. What size is it? 240 ?r?

good year triple tread, Michelin Hydro, or General Grabber are all good choices. Look at the tread pattern and see what looks good on your bike. I'm assuming you have cast rims.

Once you pick out a tire you like, the rest is simple....

We need to see pics. That C109 ought to look sharp with a triple tread on the back.

Oh you'll see pics!!!

Interesting side-note.
I called around today to find someone to install and had a guy tell me that he had installed one once, had the rider sign a waiver and then the driver had a blowout and came back to sue the installer since his insurance company wouldn't cover him.
The installer said he will never again do it.

Weird.

I'm going to continue checking around. Best suggestion for sizing that I've found is a 235/50.

Unfortunately its not gonna happen for me at the moment.
My insurance company will not cover me and I was only able to find ONE who would cover me, but they want triple the premium I'm paying now

Ahhhh the ignorance of people saying "a motorcycle isn't meant to be on a car tire, that's why they make mc tires."
