Ready to go to the Darkside/ '05 1800R Empty Ready to go to the Darkside/ '05 1800R

After checking posts 'til my eyes bleed, I think I'm ready.

I'm going with a Goodyear Assurance TripleTred P205/60R-16 91H VSB for my '05 1800R. As best I can tell this will fit with no mods and no rub.

Now all I have to do is persuade/coerce someone into installing it!

Any comments/feedback is GREATLY appreciated!

I'm running the same tire on my 03 retro I love it . You are just a couple hours from me ,I mounted my own with lots of dish soap and spoons,it took 28 psi to seat the bead and I static balanced it no dynabeads or anything on it rides great, I dont rub and no mods needed to fit , just pushed hard to get it passed my final drive. RIDE ON!!

Well, if I do end up going to the darkside I'll have to do it myself, because none of the unwashed heathen nay-sayer mc tire installers in this valley will do it. I talked to them about this, and they looked at me like I was nuts ......

You could try just a independant tire store,if no luck ,then IF this weather ever shapes wenatchee would be a nice ride, and I could help you get that tire done. Let me know and good luck.

Thanks. Every time I curse the weather here I think about you poor folks over by Spokane and it doesn't seem so bad. Will your winter EVER end?

No the weather prolly wont, because I got my bike all ready to go,with my mods and new tires and such. I just might have to see how the C/T handles in the snow,it is rated a M&S tread lol! but I'm not that desperate just yet, I'll just keep thinking sunny even tho we got another 2" of this white CRAP!!!

Woke up to 4" of this white sh!t and had almost 6" at work this morning. I'm supposed to start teaching MSF classes at the base starting the 10th and heading south on the bike for 2 weeks on the 22nd. Should have put a Blizzak on the back end. As was suggested, talk to the small tire shops. I had the tire shop on base take my mc off and then the local Alton's threw my new one on for me without any problems at all - used DynaBeads to balance. The guys at Costco gave me a look, but were interested and said that they always wondered what the big bikes like the boss hoss had on teh back end. In the end, they would sell me the tire, but couldn't put it on. Godd luck and next trip over to the Wenatchee area I should shoot you and e-mail. Should be over a couple times to visit family and then for the wings and wheels also. Erik

My wife is a volunteer for both Classy Chassis and Wings and Wheels, so be sure to introduce yourself next time you're by. Cindy works in the main info tent, so she's easy to contact.

Take the tire off and tell them it's a drag bike and you will pay cash...no receipt!

Ready to go to the Darkside/ '05 1800R Empty bad ass tire

Post  tomegofast Sat Apr 11, 2009 3:35 pm

I have the same tire on my 1800r 2003 make sure you let all the air out of the tire when you put in up in the fender
I had a hard time finding someone to mount it ,they all said i was crazy
What worked for me was to tell the bike shop that it was for a trike i was building or a side car ha ha ha
I found the most people do not under stand it at all
have 4000 miles on it and it is still like new
I have herd allot of people say that the triple-tread lose air so you have to check often

I never heard of it losing air. But I'm running 36 lbs and it's smooth. I have the GY TT and love it. I had it put on by a independent car tire shop. They can put it on for you. You probably won't need any weights for balance. But to be safe, run it by the Honda shop for balance. Let them laugh all they want.
