Running Darkside on front wheel
Anyone have any information for running CT on front wheel. Now, don't that sound like fun??

Re: Running Darkside on front wheel
Naw, but I have a car that I'm running four motorcycle tires on... rear motorcycle tires in front, front motorcycle tires in back... and all running "backwards". It's a hoot.

There is what is called "double dark side". It's putting a car tire on back, and a back MT on the front. Gold Wings and such do it. DS-Wing-Nut has done it on this forum. Not sure how applicable this is for all bikes. I'm happy with my front tire.

CT that will fit
I haven't tried as of yet. I'm riding an 02 1800 R so looks like some pretty big front fenders to me.

Re: Running Darkside on front wheel
from what i can find, seems the car tires don't really go narrower than 145... would that fit in your front fender? 145/25/16 is the smallest I found...

Re: Running Darkside on front wheel
back "in the day" that was what was done, I'd guess because of lack of technology and availability.... I know from the wider lower profile tire I have I am hesitant to recommend anything wider to people wanting "super phat darkside" because of the edge of the tire rolling up, but on the other hand the same profile front tire might help...
good luck with your search and be sure to let us know what you find.
If I remember correctly (and that is a rare occurrence) the front tire on the C or was it the R is a 130... measure the clearance you have in the front fender now to judge how much wider you can go..
I have heard of people liking putting wider front tires on (all MC tires though)

Re: Running Darkside on front wheel
You're right on the C, stock R front is 150/80-17, I'd stick with a MC tire up front, those big 150's handle bad enough, I think a CT will be worse, I had one on the front of an old panhead and it was horrible, but it was a 6.00x16 truck tire, 6 ply even, Canadian farmer style. Something from this century, instead of mid 1900's should work better, Good Luck!

Fat tire front
Russell Mitchel with Exile Cycle has run 200's on the front of his custom builds for a while now. I did also for a short time and had a problem with the bike "boating" going 60+ or so. Took it off and went back to 140's. The CT should be more stable but the corners might be intresting!
