HELP
I am new to this site, i have a 2002 VTX 1800 Retro loaded with about every option honda makes for it. I am looking to go to a car tire and have ordered a Michelin Hydro Edge 205-65-16. Here is my concern...I really do not want to start hacking or grinding on the bike...can anyone out there tell me if this tire will fit without any mods????? your help is really appreciated..cheers, Scotty

Re: HELP
may or may not... depends on your bike. Some that tire will fit without anything, seems others need a little gringin on the inner fenderbrace for clearance... congrats on the tire choice!
Put the tire on and disconnect the shocks, this will allow you to lower the fender over the tire and you can check for clearance. If you need to grind, hit it with a little paint to help prevent corrosion in the future...

I think some grind just out of concern because they don't want to run it that close. I agree with Nodack, Twin, pull the shocks and check, so you don't grind what you don't have to. Good Luck!

HELP
first off, thanks for the help! If I had a friend that was doing it (now that I know what I know) I would have them do just that! unfortunately, i was doing it by myself with no assistance (other than my wife bitching for me to get out of the garage and get to bed!) anyway, i did the grind. I measeured that i had about 1/8 of an inch clearance on both sides, but being tired, i guess that i did not realize that when the shocks were off that the bike was as low as it could go.....anyway-it's on the road and I am one happy biker who is thrilled to have made the move to the DARK SIDE! that sounds so EVIL!!!.....thanks again, cheers-Scotty
