Post  OneFATride on Thu Jul 31, 2008 10:41 pm

Thanks all for the great info.and the time you take to share your experience. I have a 2003 1800 R -Love the wide and low look. I see it is mostly about personal taste asto what is on your ride and from the photos I see you all have good taste. Would like some impute on wide and low tires and also what some of you run on the front to balance the look and ride thanks

Try this thread to see what you like. Then just PM the guy/gal with the look you like.

OneFatRide,

I started on the 165/80 before anyone else had ever tried it on a 1300 stock rim! I fell in love with from the first 1/10 of a mile and have been hooked every since. Then I was the first to find a 205 to go onto a stock rim and I just thought I couldn't love the darkside any more than before, but it's true. It's really nicer!

Now, the 205/65/15 Douglas is about 1/4" taller than the stock motorcycle tire which puts every thing normal as far as ride height and feel. The 165 was about 1/2" shorter than the stock motorcycle tire and it handled fine also....never had a problem or complaint about it's ride or characteristics, as a matter of fact it handles just like the motorcycle tire or I could not notice a difference in handling except it would not step out on me and the wet riding was most superb!

The 205 gives the bike a more feel like you are really riding like back in my flattrack days. It's not as free getting in the turns as the 165, but I like it better because I feel every input and just gives me a greater confidence in twisties. Kinda hard to explain, I like the feel of the 205 because of more input that it requires, I feel more like I am riding and in control...if that makes since!
